Anyway...

This morning as I got to work, Abe Lincoln was coming out of the green room.

This evening as I was heading out the door, I passed by a woman about my age wearing a yarmulke, an attractive young woman of apparently middle-eastern ethnicity in a hajib, and a catholic priest, walking towards Studio 3. Sounds like the setup for a joke, but it was just the B-block in the 5pm newscast.

Commentary from a local. Somewhat sad. Swedish news isn't covering it much because it's bad for tourism economy.

Red herring? Saying that you think something is irrelevant and calling something fake news is not the same thing. It doesn't magically become fake because you disagree.

I'll see your red herring and raise you red state.

That biased liberal media and their fake news tho.

So the media gets the define the term, then censor anyone who disagrees with it?

So what if he thinks it's "fake", he can still make his point. Is he not allowed to argue his position when asked to come on TV and argue his position?

What does linking a Fake News article with some commentary about the same video clip we are discussing add to your position that Lemons handled it perfectly well?

How did Lemons handle himself here?

He intentionally reads flattering statistics and disregards the actual real numbers (and facts), basically calls Horowitz a fraud, then refuses to go the BRA numbers he "has right here".

  • Forty years after the Swedish parliament unanimously decided to change the formerly homogenous Sweden into a multicultural country, violent crime has increased by 300% and rapes by 1,472%. Sweden is now number two on the list of rape countries, surpassed only by Lesotho in Southern Africa.
  • Significantly, the report does not touch on the background of the rapists. One should, however, keep in mind that in statistics, second-generation immigrants are counted as Swedes.
  • In an astounding number of cases, the Swedish courts have demonstrated sympathy for the rapists, and have acquitted suspects who have claimed that the girl wanted to have sex with six, seven or eight men.
Michael Hess, a local politician from Sweden Democrat Party, encouraged Swedish journalists to get acquainted with Islam's view of women, in connection with the many rapes that took place in Cairo's Tahrir Square during the "Arab Spring". Hess wrote, "When will you journalists realize that it is deeply rooted in Islam's culture to rape and brutalize women who refuse to comply with Islamic teachings. There is a strong connection between rapes in Sweden and the number of immigrants from MENA-countries [Middle East and North Africa]."

This remark led to Michael Hess being charged with "denigration of ethnic groups" [hets mot folkgrupp], a crime in Sweden. In May last year, he was handed a suspended jail sentence and a fine -- the suspension was due to the fact that he had no prior convictions. The verdict has been appealed to a higher court.

Hey look, Lemons has become Meme worthy:

Icelandic president admits he does not have the legal authority to ban pineapple on pizza
By Adam Taylor February 22 at 12:30 AM

Iceland's president, Gudni Thorlacius Johannesson, delivers a speech in the Royal Library in Copenhagen on Jan. 24, 2017.

Icelandic President Gudni Thorlacius Johannesson ignited a global debate this week by suggesting that he would ban pineapples as a topping on pizza if he could.

Johannesson made the comments during a visit last week to a high school in Akureyri, a town in northern Iceland. The president was quizzed by students about his preferences in life — he told them that he supported the English soccer team Manchester United, for example.

However, things took a turn when Johannesson was asked whether he liked pineapple on his pizza. According to reports in the Icelandic media, the president said he was “firmly opposed” to the idea. He then went further, suggesting that he would ban pineapples on pizza if he could.

Before long, his opinions had caught the attention of social media, sparking a rolling debate about the merits of government intervention into pizza decision-making.

On Change.org, a petition calling for the president's resignation over his “extreme views” had garnered 82 signatures as of 6 p.m. Eastern time — not much, but bear in mind that Iceland's total population is only about 335,000.

On Tuesday, Johannesson addressed the furor with a statement acknowledging that in his position, a traditionally ceremonial role, he had no authority to change Iceland's laws about pizza:
I like pineapples, just not on pizza. I do not have the power to make laws which forbid people to put pineapples on their pizza. I am glad that I do not hold such power. Presidents should not have unlimited power. I would not want to hold this position if I could pass laws forbidding that which I don't like. I would not want to live in such a country. For pizzas, I recommend seafood.
Johannesson, a former history professor at the University of Iceland, has been in office since August. He pledged to be a “less political president” than his predecessor, Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, and he has proven exceptionally popular — his approval ratings reached 97 percent in December.

This may be down to his approachable style: Last summer, he was spotted picking up a Domino's pizza on his way home from work.

WAITING IN QUEUE Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, Iceland's president, waited in queue for a pizza to bring home on Friday.

When does Trump predict the world is going to end? Because he so wonderfully predicted something in sweden that he implied had already happened...

The media doesn't get to define the term as the dictionary has served pretty well for that. Disagreeing with something is not the same thing as fake. This is not a rhetorical/circuitous argument. You call something what it is and disagree with it on its merits or lack thereof. The claim to 'fakeness' is not a legitimate argument unless you can prove that something is actually fake. Disliking it and using the term 'fake' as a deflection is asinine. I don't care about the video that you posted because it has nothing to do with what we were discussing which was one particular incident. A different incident neither supports nor disproves a completely different unrelated one.

I do appreciate your deflection of calling an article I posted fake with absolutely nothing to back it up. If you don't have facts, use deflections. How predictable.

As someone once told me: Admit nothing. Deny everything. Make counter accusations.
Seems like it works pretty well.

It seems like a large chunk of conservatives feel persecuted and can only piece together their fragile world view by decrying anything that doesn't fit into it as fake. Yet liberals are the snowflakes. How quaint.

Maher really had nothing to do with the smear campaign against Takei Yiannopoulos.

in real news:

BRZEZINSKI: “Well, I think that the dangerous, you know, edges here are that he is trying to undermine the media and trying to make up his own facts. And it could be that while unemployment and the economy worsens, he could have undermined the messaging so much that he can actually control exactly what people think. And that, that is our job.”

Liberals seeking refuge from reality now have a fake news website where they can pretend to live in a world where Hillary Clinton is president.

“Approval ratings for President Clinton hit 89 percent,” “Confused by fake news, Redditers think Trump is president” and “DOJ considers charging Trump with treason” are just a few headlines featured on HillaryBeatTrump.org, a satirical news site devoted to covering stories from an alternate universe where Hillary won last November’s election.

“In the midst of a Constitutional crisis, this is our response,” the site’s description reads. “Long live the true president, Hillary Rodham Clinton.”

The site’s proprietors do not identify themselves online, and did not return TheDC’s request for comment, but their articles suggest they have liberal leanings.

in fake news:

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials tried to hack Indiana’s state electoral system with at least 14,800 “scans” or hits between Nov. 1, 2016 to Dec. 16, 2016… The attacks are the second confirmed IT scanning assault by DHS officials against states that resisted then-President Barack Obama’s attempt to increase federal involvement in state and local election systems…

The same DHS unit attempted 10 times in 2016 to hack into the Georgie electoral system. Federal officials are barred under DHS rules from trying to penetrate a state system without the express approval of the state. Neither Georgia nor Indiana approved the DHS scanning attempts.

Indiana officials have not yet asked the DHS IG to look at their state’s situation. “We’re taking the matter under consideration, [Secretary of State] Lawson said, adding that “we have sent letters to our congressional folks, our governor, and others to make them aware this happened. I’m very concerned, very concerned.”
The British Islamic State fighter who carried out a suicide bombing in Iraq was an “enemy of the state” who should never have been paid £1 million compensation by the Government “on merit”, Tony Blair’s former counter-terrorism adviser has said.

Lord Carlile, who served as the Government’s independent reviewer of terrorism legislation from 2001 to 2011, said the former Guantanamo Bay detainee should not have been given a “penny” because “plainly he was a terrorist”.

Jamal al-Harith, a Muslim convert born Ronald Fiddler who detonated a car bomb at an Iraqi army base near Mosul, was released from the US detention camp in 2004 and successfully claimed compensation after saying British agents knew or were complicit in his mistreatment.

Earlier this week, Isil named al-Harith as the man who had blown himself up in the car bombing at the Iraqi army base, and released a picture of him.
