Russia Detains Opposition Leader Navalny Amid Nationwide Protests
Dozens were arrested during the biggest anti-Kremlin demonstrations in years.
MOSCOW/YEKATERINBURG, March 26 (Reuters) - Police detained hundreds of protesters across Russia on Sunday, including opposition leader Alexei Navalny, after thousands took to the streets to demonstrate against corruption and demand the resignation of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

The protests, reckoned to be the biggest since a wave of anti-Kremlin demonstrations in 2011/2012, come a year before a presidential election which Vladimir Putin is expected to contest, running for what would be a fourth term.

Opinion polls suggest the liberal opposition, which Navalny represents, have little chance of fielding a candidate capable of unseating Putin, who enjoys high ratings. But Navalny and his supporters hope to channel public discontent over official corruption to attract more support.

A Reuters reporter saw police detain Navalny, who hopes to run against Putin, as he walked along central Moscow’s Tverskaya Street with supporters, part of an unsanctioned rally as a police helicopter circled overhead.

Police put Navalny in a truck around which hundreds of protesters crowded, trying to open its doors.

“I’m happy that so many people came out (onto the streets) from the east (of the country) to Moscow,” Navalny said, moments before he was detained.

So let me get this straight. To fight "facism" you're going to impersonate a religious group that already has enough heat on its plate (which if you read the Quran is a crime to that faith and punishable by death. Impersonating a Muslim and a man wearing women's clothes)and put more suspicion placed on them? Then you are going to try and manipulate the system by citing fake hate crimes and thus bring into question more when actual hate crimes that happen? And you're going to instigate violent responses? Yes....this doesn't sound terrible at all.

Spokespeople for both the U.S. and German governments have issued statements denying reports that President Donald Trump handed German Chancellor Angela Merkel a £300 billion invoice for money owed by the country to NATO.

According to Politico – who has published a story identifying the news as fake, without issuing a retraction of their original piece – a spokesperson for the German government stated earlier today, “reports that President Trump had presented the federal chancellor with a kind of bill with a concrete billion sum are not true.”

“Donald Trump branded ‘international embarrassment’ after handing made-up NATO invoice to Angela Merkel.”

Slate also has yet to issue a retraction of its article which reads, “turns out Trump’s version of diplomacy with one of the country’s most important allies in Europe involves handing over a bill for billions of dollars that the White House believes it owes NATO.”

The article concludes by declaring Merkel is “a bit more adept ad diplomacy than her U.S. counterpart.”

Gabino Vargas-Perez was a junior at Central High School when a 14-year-old girl told police he raped her.

He posted $5,000 bond and then disappeared.

Prosecutors said Vargas-Perez, 20, is a legal U.S. resident, but his parents are in Guatemala.

The victim's family says the damage has been done, and now they fear justice will never be served.

After posting bond, Vargas-Perez never showed up for his next court appearance. Now there’s a warrant out for his arrest.

The judge who set his bond is Jeffrey Marcuzzo, who also set bond for Eswin Mejia, the suspect in a deadly crash who also vanished. The crash killed Sarah Root.

An Omaha teenager will reportedly not serve prison time after throwing her newborn baby from a window, killing it.

According to the Omaha World-Herald, a judge instead placed 16-year-old Antonia Lopez on probation and deemed she must live in a group home, partake in therapy, delete her Facebook account, and complete 50 hours of community service.

The outlet reports that Lopez gave birth at her apartment on September 30 and proceeded to throw the baby out of her second story window.

...There is no form of legal authority that the left accepts as a permanent institution. It only utilizes forms of authority selectively when it controls them. But when government officials refuse the orders of the duly elected government because their allegiance is to an ideology whose agenda is in conflict with the President and Congress, that’s not activism, protest, politics or civil disobedience; it’s treason.

After losing Congress, the left consolidated its authority in the White House. After losing the White House, the left shifted its center of authority to Federal judges and unelected government officials. Each defeat led the radicalized Democrats to relocate from more democratic to less democratic institutions.

This isn’t just hypocrisy. That’s a common political sin. Hypocrites maneuver within the system. The left has no allegiance to the system. It accepts no laws other than those dictated by its ideology.

Democrats have become radicalized by the left. This doesn’t just mean that they pursue all sorts of bad policies. It means that their first and foremost allegiance is to an ideology, not the Constitution, not our country or our system of government. All of those are only to be used as vehicles for their ideology.

That’s why compromise has become impossible.
