One has to work with a bunch of other people to get anything done and has begun withdrawal of active combat troops if I understand correctly.

The other can take ideological positions all day without actually getting anything done.

Oh noes! Ideological positions! What nerve! How dare Ron Paul actually base his opinions on a consistent and principled worldview instead of whatever will avoid losing votes!

Hey, even Mitt Romney said he was learning about the Fed from Ron Paul.

Could you elaborate on the efforts that President Obama has made for bringing the troops home that have been blocked?

If you watch this video you will learn that according to Obama our troops were supposed to ALL be home sixteen months after he became president. How many months has it been now?

"I wouldn't wait for my generals, I'm the commander in chief. I make the decisions. I tell the generals what to do." -Dr. Ron Paul

idk i guess i just never seen you post anything that would suggest you would be interested in anything Alex Jones has to say

and with as far out of sync Alex is with the mainstream media (obviously this a good thing)
i just never assume anyone to appreciate him unless i see something that would suggest it

JasonC SBB is someone who would strike me as the type to be interested in Alex Jones

I'm interested in learning the truth. I read any source. I probably align closer to Alex Jones than anyone else out there. While I hate labels, I consider myself a conervative-libertarian-constitutional-capitalist. I wholly oppose statism/corportism/communism/facism/socalism/nazism.

Just because I watch foxnews when I'm at home doesnt mean I agree with everything they say...only when Krathammer, Judge Neo. or Stossel is on.

Here's a fun one who thinks Ron Paul's economic policies are just more of the same ol' capitalist "rich get richer" brand of unfairness.

The point wasn't that taking ideological positions was, in and of itself, a bad thing. My point is that it's a lot easier to make broad statements and take positions about sweeping change when you are on the campaign trail or taking a position of 1 out of 535 legislators.

At what point did I say President Obama's efforts to bring home troops in Iraq have been blocked?

Apparently it's not that easy -- Gingrich, for example, has managed to find himself on both sides of just about every major issue at one point or another.

Allow me to clarify:
"My point is that it's a lot easier to make broad statements and take positions about sweeping change when you are on the campaign trail or taking a position of 1 out of 535 legislators versus enacting those sweeping changes when you are the President of the USA as head of one of the three branches of split government."

That is, Ron Paul can talk about cutting a trillion dollars off the budget deficit in his first year by completely eliminating the EPA, Dept of Education and Dept of Commerce but how likely is that to actually happen?

This.

Politicians can make plan to do stuff and talk **** all they want, even if they try to do what they clam they want to do, it is by no means a guarantee they they will get it done.
BTW, how many jobs will Ron Paul's plan kill?

None. He's already said that elimination of the cabinet departments will not involve cessation of those functions or layoffs of current employees. There will simply be no new funding allocated for those departments and the employee base will be reduced by attrition.

EDITED TO ADD:

And even if it did, what would it matter? Gradual change is kinder than immediate, but either way it only helps to shift those employees out of unproductive jobs into productive jobs.
