Add Peregrine Financial "losing" a couple hundred million of what is supposed to be segregated client funds and LIBOR rates being manipulated.

It is rarely a case of "not enough" regulation and too often a case of poorly executed or laxly enforced regulation. One exception I will make for that is Glass-Steagall. There is not enough of that regulation these days.

In a veto statement yesterday, Patrick slammed his reform-intent rivals for “political grandstanding” with their efforts to ban EBT buys of guns, ****, tattoos, jewelry and manicures, insisting reforms were already on track without the Legislature’s meddling.

moral case for free enterprise:

1. free enterprise safeguards lasting happiness
2. it promotes real fairness
3. it does the most good for the most vulnerable

How Do You Get Into the NAACP Convention to Hear Eric Holder Say That Voter ID Laws Are Racist? | Power Line

Pointing out the hypocrisy of this administration is fun. And easy. .

BTW, have they figured out if they're taxing us or penalizing us? Is there such a thing as a $1.7 trillion penalty over 10 years?

I watched part of his speech, his argument (however retarded it may be) would be null and void if states started requiring its citizens to hold a state issued ID by some age limit.

“Many of those without IDs would have to travel great distances to get them — and some would struggle to pay for the documents they might need to obtain them,” Holder said. “We call those poll taxes"
He argues that getting an ID is too expensive for some minorities. I find that argument incredibly racist. He calls it a poll tax. I'm sure EBT cards are accepted at the DMV...they are everywhere else.

He also argues it's too hard for minorities to get IDs. Again, I find his statement racist and belittling, apparently minorities lack the intelligence to walk, taxi, bus, bike, drive to a state run DMV and have an ID issued.

he also adds:

In our efforts to protect voting rights and to prevent voting fraud, we will be vigilant and strong. But let me be clear, let me be very, very clear: We will not allow political pretexts to disenfranchise American citizens of their most precious right
But this is not true, many times when he's presented with information on voter fraud, he investigates the whistleblower, not the fraud.

It was an embarassing speech and I litterally slapped my forehead when I watched it. Of course his poor unintelligent minions cheered an appaulded him when he called them poor and stupid.

Caution, only continue reading if you want to laugh out loud:

the NAACP delegates assembled in Houston passed an “emergency resolution” that resolved the organization and its members to “strongly support” the attorney general’s efforts, especially with regard to voting rights.

The resolution also called Holder one of the best attorneys general ever.

At one point during his address, an audience member shouted out, “We love you,” to which Holder responded, “I love you back!”

I've been watching Pat Caddell's slow transformation from a concerned democrat into Will Smith from I Am Legend. The link below is basically a prescription on how to defeat Obama. Caddell seems to have transitioned from having a disagreement with to outright hostility towards the Administration and democratic leadership. The article is long but pretty convincing, and it pretty much boils down to Obama being a goddam liar and the republicans need to call him one on the "no taxes on the middle-class" issue.

The California democrats just passed a laughable budget that did not address unfunded liabilities from pension plans. At all. This is supposed to be a gift from Sacramento to the unions, but cities are simply being forced to go bankrupt in order to address these realities.

We're not too poor for the "Browndoggle", a high-speed rail that nobody wants. Literally--the price has more than doubled from what the voters approved, the rail has gotten slower, use will be a fraction of the original plan and those who will get it in their towns hate the idea. So the sneaky F-ers in Sacramento start the project out in the middle of nowhere, figuring once it's started it can't be stopped. Why would I drive to a distant location to get on a train that cost more and was slower than a plane to get to my destination?

When governments get too big, they can cram this stuff down our throats at will, much like the Obamatax.
