Default The Bush Doctrine

Long article, no cliffnotes for those who TLDR.

I'm seriously interested in seeing the discussion generated from this.

Gotta ruminate for a bit before posting any comments, but thanks for the article. I like the distinction made between preemptive and preventative war.

I have no problem with my leaders destroying the enemies who "want" to kill Americans or threaten us with nuclear weapons.

So 'splain why, we successfully stood down the USSR with 40,000 nukes and intercontinental delivery systems, and which fell apart with nary a whimper... and now we're supposed to be worried one 3rd World country *might* develop one?

I was asking Hustler. Also one nuke is a big deal, and Iran is trying to enrich uranium. Good thing their scientists keep blowing up. (hat tip our favorite Hebrew homeboys, Mossad)

Oh puh-leeze.

How is it that you "conservatives", don't trust the gov't when it comes to Obamacare, welfare, and spending, but suddenly, when they tell you we must bomb foreigners, and that "they hate us for our freedoms", you believe them, hook, line, and sinker?

Did you ever consider the possibility that our dear wise leaders' foreign policy, only benefits them, and is exactly the reason why so many people from other countries hate us?

I have never understood something about this line of thinking.

Specifically, "Okay, I support spending billions or trillions on fighting other countries!" but "I oppose spending money on our own citizens at home!".

The logic completely baffles me.

I didn't say anything about the emboldened.
Iranians do hate us, I believe what I believe b/c I'm not full retard.
How does our foreign policy benefit our leaders? "OMFG IRAK HAZ OIL WE MUST INVADE LIKE NOW" does not count as a legitimate argument.
Who cares if much of the world hates us? Much of the world doesn't have running water either.

Gearhead,

This appears to be a giant dogpile on Hustly. However, our politicians for the past few decades have consistently used war as a method to drum up support for them and also funnel money to specific campaign donors and/or districts. Not to mention other scummy actions, at that!

I mean, I've called someone out in another thread for complaining about how only "Obama" did the "I award my campaign donors moneeeyyyz" bit while trying to claim Bush never did.
