0.64 or 0.86 hotside for 280whp goal on a 1.8

sorry for digging this up, but i'm going back and forth between a tial 0.64 and a 0.86 housing. it'll be on a FM built 1.6 though which doesn't flow anywhere as well as any of the 1.8's. Would it be better to go for the 0.64 to make up for the crappy flowing 1.6 IM/head? it'll be a street/occasional track car, going for the 300s if possible

My GT2560 did 270 whp on a Dynapack with a restricitve 2.5" exhaust system that had 9 psi of backpressure. With my new 3" exhaust which shows <5 psi, I betcha it'll do > 280 hp.
For 300 whp I wouldn't go with a 0.86 on either a GT2860RS nor a GT2871.
And most especially not a street car with a 1.6.

Has anyone put a .64 A/R housing on a GT2860rs and like it? If the little housing will work on any Miata it would be a 1.6.
I have a .86 housing I will sell you on the cheap if the .64 doesn't work out...but I think the larger housing is the way to go from the start.

See this is where you and me completely disagree. I'm not saying one should go with some ginormous mammoth snail for 200whp or something, but I am a firm believer of slightly oversized turbos.
Just a matter of opinion of course, but I think each has their pros and cons and its really up to how you like your power to be delivered.
