Basically it uses a relief valve before a regulating valve. The relief valve is the same thing as a normal MBC. The regulating valve remain fully closed until the desired boost level is hit. This ensures the wastegate stays closed as long as possible and not to creep open as the spring in the MBC starts to open.

I'm considering trying it out as I am looking for a prettier MBC since I have everything pulled out at the moment and I'm redoing a few things. I hope to take it to a dyno after the work is done and I'd love to try it and see the dyno results compared to my old MBC.

I think I'm going to try it. All the parts can be had for under $70, it could turn out to be a rreally nice boost controlling device. Corky responded to my post at m.net and agreed it should help out. I know mine MBC is in need of replacement and since I rock a larger t3 I'd love to keep spooling as fast as possible.

Then I can see the gains on the dyno compares to no MBC, a ball and spring MBC, and this combo.

I've always been worried about my MBC causing the wastegate to leak. Even at the set psi, when air passes through it it slowly cause the ball to rise and at a certain point airflow starts to pass before to desired psi level. When I was on the dyno the biggest contributors to higher hp/tq was a tightened wastegate and using a MBC. It's not terribly expensive and should work as intended. The regulating valve is only $21, so it could just be used in line with a MBC to keep it on the cheap.

And besides, I have the whole system pretty much ripped out right now, might as well add a project or two. I'm really trying to hit 180-190hp with the same setup.

I thought the way a ball and spring controller works is that the ball blocks the path of the air right up until the diesred pressure level, then pops up letting the air through. Does it not actually perform this way in practice?

Only downside to that setup I see is that it would be a pain to set both valves to the level you want.

It's jsut a spring so I've always felt that a little pressure will start compressing it more and more untill the desired level. Not much but ever so slightly. This setup is basically a mbc that has to open another valve before the wastegate, that way there cannot be any creep what-so-ever. It may be overkill but I'd like to try it out. Plus you can get a neat mount that acutally mounts them together without the needs of fittings and hoses and provides a bracket for mounting. But you're right tuning will be a bitch.

braineack, maybe im brain dead now, but if your having creep with the MBC, why not put another MBC in line, cheaper and easier to tune?

try it! please. Let me know if its works. Youll have boost creep but with each one added less and less, and I bet with two itll be solved. We can make two MBCs and sell them for **** loads of money.

Well I hope someone tries it cause its alot easier to tune, cheaper and simpler. KISS
