**** rolls downhill, the higher the hill the more stuff there is to be found at the bottom. If the stuff gets used or recycled is up to the market.
For stuff that we have decent turnover of the prices seldom differ more than taxes between US, China or local shop (e.g. consumer electronics).
For Miata parts (only 4k cars in the country and close to none at the scrapyards), the shipping companies get more than $500 from me in a slow year (US and UK mostly)... E.g. BP engines are 2-3 times more expensive here than in the UK.
If the volume is low the margins gets higher (besides the normal supply&demand).

Thats what I said last, not enough capitalism, just not enough people and business' to have legitimate competition on all products.
In Oz you have a $600 muffler, you mention you can get it for 350 shipped from the states and all of a sudden its 350 here.
Supply and demand, even if there is little demand if there is only 1 supplier what are you gonna do?

Spot on, and when there are only say 2 or 3 suppliers theres a good chance they will all just keep their prices high and F the community.
With 20+ suppliers guaranteed one will undercut to a realistic price.

Rubbish, 104 i think.
He only got 4 runs in, by memory it went like 14.5, 13.6, 12.5 and 11.8.
he hadnt done it before so the first couple were very poor, his first run he staged and then dropped the clutch at 2000rpm and spun 1st 2nd 3rd on the limiter etc etc etc.
