So, I used to be a heavy frequenter of this site when I had my na turbo. But I bought an NC a few years back and sold the na. I know this site isn't much for the NC, but I though you guys might be interested in my DIY turbo build. How is the ECU tuning on the NC's with boost? I have not spent a lot of time looking but it seems there are a few vendors that offer products to tune the stock ECU. Does it take to boost well?

I am seriously considering picking up a NC sometime late this year or early next year to start doing MKTurbo setups for.

I sure hope the ND engine bay has more space to play with than the NC for a turbo kit. I highly doubt it tho.

The NC takes to boost very well, in fact. There are obviously stand-alone options, but they aren't highly recommended, in that you begin giving up the drivability of the car. Most tuning of the NC, therefore, is on the stock ECU and has a very stock behavior. The down-side, however, is that tuning of the ECU is normally done by a very few tuners through ECUTek, MazdaEdit, or Open Flash. ECUTek is probably the most advanced, but is $300 or so for the license, plus cable, plus tuning costs. You're in for around $800 or so just for a n/a tune. For turbo, add a few hundred to that. If you want to do your own tuning, you're looking at buying ECUTEK software + a tuner kit of 5 licenses and pushing 3k for that. Therefore, most of the NC community relies on the dedicated tuners to do it for them. It has pro's and cons. I miss having complete control of my megasquirt setup, but there's good support, as well.

I doubt it as well. At 155hp though, it's gonna need it. So what if it's 200lb lighter than my car... it's now 160+ whp shy too. But... it looks pretty.
