Oh dear god, the compressor inlet and outlet were exposed to atmo and the turbine was passing exhaust gas? Even with the wastegate flapping open you've likely overspun it. With inlet and outlet exposed to air the compressor is pretty much unloaded.

Send it to majestic for a checkup. Hopefully only the seals are broken.

Can the same thing happen when the IC tube blows off? I've also seen a "fair bit" of oil at the compressor outlet. Enough to "pool" along the edge of where the silicone connector meets the IC pipe. I thought it might be "blow by" because the hose from the valve cover on the DS connects to the air intake, pre-compressor. I haven't checked whether there is oil in that pipe because I finally got it to fit good and tight without slipping off.

p.s.: What's with the flanges on the older T28? Seems like there's barely enough room for a worm-type hose clamp, let alone a t-bolt clamp. Especially on the compressor outlet side.
