Default 5th injector

i inherited a 90 with lots of work done to it. i have gotten the car road worthy and i even autocrossed it this past weekend. does anyone else have a 5th fuel injector?

let me take a step back. my miata has a turbo on it.......only markings are "airesearch" stamped in the casting. no intercooler. it has a "turbogroup fueler" control mod that runs a 5th injector which fires just before the intake manifold. i am getting about 5-6lbs of boost.

does anyone else have this type of setup? how reliable is it.......should i be worried about killing my engine (original w/150k)? i havent been able to find much out about this turbogroup fueler other than the few pages of install directions i found.

any thoughts/suggestions?

the kit i have on my car was previously running on a 5th injector ( i bought the kit used). it was still plumped into the pipe just before the throttlebody, as you have described. however i removed it as i already have bigger injectors fitted on my car. the previous owner had no dramas and i think he was running about 8psi of boost.

i wouldn't think you need to be too worried. it seems to work fine, avo use it on their stage 1 kit and their kits are pretty well respected.

I have the avo kit and it came with that extra injector, I never used it though. It's not the best thing but it works for low boost applications.

A friend of mine had a 5th injector in his turbo '96. It's not the best way to go about fueling but it'll get the job done for low boost.
