Default 1.8s with Sr20 T25s. Some info please

Ive done some searching and have seen only acouple dynos/threads. ive heard they are a good cheap option...ive also heard they are far too small.

My goal is 220whp. anyone have using the Sr20 t25 that would like to share their setup and opinion of it ?

Look at my signature. 225whp with a SR20 turbo. Very cheap to obtain, cheap to rebuild, fast spool, etc. The dyno was on a stock '99 1.8 liter with 460cc injectors, running approx 12psi. What year is your engine?

Don't look at my dyno thread. I'm at 155 with power that flat lines at 5000ish rpms due to a crappy 2.5" exhaust choking it off. BUT it shows that with a smaller engine, 2psi less than thirdgen's dyno, and a shitty exhaust I'm only 65hp off your goal.

Just do yourself a favor and get 3" exhaust and hopefully no cat.

i got 225 rwhp with a pretty aggressive tune, 2.5" dp, 3" exhaust, 550cc, fmic

i got 206 on a different dyno with stupidly conservative timing.

Both on a stock 96 1.8 and about 12-14 psi

Dirt cheap and pretty easy to rebuild too.

Look at 240's torque as compared to mine. We have basically the same HP, but his car should walk mine due to the torque...for now

SR20 T25 turbos are an awesome low-buck option for 200-220whp.

I have since backed down on my timing.

Although now with my new motor at least I am 9:1 compression. . . And I still have water/meth kicking around waiting to be installed

torque really seems to fall off pretty hard on the top end with these turbos. question to those who are using the T25, does it still feel like the car pulls pretty well all the way to7k

pulls better than stock, but you notice the lack of top end. but the low end is FUN. it's a great street turbo.

T25s making around 200-220whp is that setup that can be used on the track reliably ? or are they so inefficient at those power levels that they can only be used for occasional abuse on the street ?

you will run into similar reliability issues as the bigger turbos on the track. Studs backing out, heat issues, etc etc.
I upgraded to the inconel M10's and and gave up on running gaskets on the downpipe surfaces.

My last track day was at wastegate pressure with the original m8 studs and **** got loose.

Savington ran a 2554 on the track for a good while. I believe his turbo was fine, he just could never get it to stay connected to the manifold. This was long before he made the Inconel studs. If you are running TSE Inconel studs I would think a 2554 would be fine. The only downside to the turbo is that the topend torque drops off a ton.

In case you were wondering, gt2554 is pretty much the same as sr20 t25. I think the turbine wheel in the sr20 is actually .1mm bigger or something. They are so close in size it's ridiculous. If you're concerned if the sr20 turbo will make enough power, find a blown s14 turbo with a good compressor and swap the compressor and wheel. The basic sr20 t25 uses a 56mm 60 trim compressor wheel, while the s14 uses a 60mm 60 trim wheel. The upgrade takes it from a gt2554 sized turbo to a gt2560 sized turbo.

How close is the turbine side of the T25 (.64ar) to that of the gt2560 ???

I know you can get T28 compressor wheels installed into T25s for under $300. If that will make my t25 flow like a gt2560 I just might have to do it.
