Default ABSURDflow Turbo KLDE Mazda V6 Thread

Here's my official turbo KLDE (Mazda 2.5l V6) build thread.

My current plan is to use a 1" thick bellhousing and flywheel adapter to use a T5z trans and foxbody-era Mustang bellhousing/clutch/flywheel/starter stuffs. Forged internals and enough positive intake pressure to make this exercise worth the grief. Rear diff will most likely be a V8R/GM CTS Getrag kit. I do not know what I am doing with my subframe yet.

Photos are on my website, sorry but there's not many pictures yet.
http://www.absurdflow.com/klde.html
Some additional pics that I haven't gotten around to additing to that page. Sorry for the huge size:
I do not know if this starter orientation will work, it will probably crash into something. But this orientation is the easiest to fit onto the V6. This is a offset gear starter from MSD for the Windsor small block Ford:

The V6 Block is transparent blue. The red area is what needs clearance. Very minor at this orientation.

The rectangular area is the VIN tag boss on the side of the block, for my reference.

Starter location with respect to the miata trans. I have to take a look at my car to see if this will work. You can see the alternate starter clock/rotation locations too, but these will require more clearancing on the block to fit the starter.

The plan is to assemble the trans to the V6, locate the shifter in the stock miata location, and build mounts from there. Hopefully everything fits with only minor headaches. haha. I already have the miata trans in solidworks; I have a gutted T5 trans here so once I get my bellhousing I will be able to overlay the two transmissions to see how far forward (or rear?) the mustang bellhousing is with respect to the miata's. Then I can get a better feel for starter location/clearance.

Fun stuff.

I love this thread already. I always wanted to swap a 4.3 vortec v6 with a t5 into a miata. I can't wait to see the well engineered outcome.

Are you considering making a run of adapter plates?

a run of adapter plates. that's funny.

I mean it'd be cool, but I think it's unrealistic unless you plan to front several hundred dollars for one.

Saw your thread "over there"

Am I the only one who is oddly drawn to wanting to know what Claire looks like?

For those that don't follow it, Claire lives in England, is building a KLDE Miata, her scratch built subframe looks like a million bucks and she fabricates like a house on fire but we don't know what she looks like.

Probably don't want to know and spoil the illusion.
