Default Aerogel blankets

I guess now's as good a time as any to share my news...

I've been in contact with a company that produces aerogel for the past couple weeks trying to get some sheets of an aerogel infused blanket that's an INCREDIBLE insulator. If you've never heard of or looked into aerogel i would highly recommend doing so. No promises on these "blankets" but it does sound like it may be a possibility. I can only imagine that most people here would want one except for the blnket group buy that Zabac just did so if you're interested let me know. I'm trying to get as much of the stuff as i can, it's not going to be stitched up to fit snug on your turbo like the other blankets, it will just be a sheet of the material that you can make fit however you want. I have NO IDEA on the cost of the stuff that is what the hold up is right now but the person I have spoken with says that for "scrap" pieces the size i want they probably won't be too outrageous.

Here is a video for those of you who haven't seen it in action:

Last I checked it was over $1000 a sq/ft. Maybe they found a better way to produce it?

While it's cool hi-tech stuff, if it costs too much, why not use some cheap black "welding pads"? (I know it looks liks *** though...)
