Default colder plug part #

Curious what plugs you guys found that are 2 steps colder than stock. I went to the O'Rieley's and they didn't have any NGKs colder than heat range 5.

It's quite possible though that their guys behind the counter were complete idiots. I had to argue with them for a few minutes that the last 2 digits in the spark plug part number were the gap, not the heat range.

Depends on what is called out as stock. 95 Miata is called out as BKR5E, so two steps colder is BKR7E.

'91 Miata is called out as BKR6E, they only have one step colder(BKR7E)

Ben, in regards to NGKs....to higher the number to lower the heat range....94-06 miatas have BKR5E form the factory....which are warmer plugs than the 90-93 which utilize BKR6Es.

thanks for (finally) getting it to me. cuz you know I need it n all.

I done ordered me some ngk zfr7f-11 . They are extended reach heat range 7. Which is the coldest ngk copper plug I could find that would be correct for the miata. They cost about $.25 more/each compared to the bkr7es-11.

no. I have 1 running miata, 1 miata carcass with a few parts left, and 1 extra miata engine.

I've had a 96 and an 90 in the past.

OK, no detonation with the ngk zfr7f-11 plugs on a WOT pull through 1-4, and most of 5. Had the a/c on too.

Brain, might be good to put that part # in your faq.
