I'm a bitch and can't find ****, help?
So...the mountains suck. Any advice or anybody want to pick some **** up, ship it to me and I'll pay you for your time, I'm getting annoyed and this is all I'm missing to blow my car up.
-The local Ace only carries standard automotive studs..and would cost to much to get them ordered. Forgot to check for fuel **** because I wasn't sure exactly what I needed at the time.
-Our Lowes...sucks. bad. like...horrible. Not even what I need for the fuel line. Or anything. Nothing that small
-Advance Auto blows, worse than lowes and don't have any fittings, couldn't find any studs that fit the turbo. And aren't bright.
-ATP wants $1 per stud and $1 nut + $17 dollars shipping...so honestly it would be worth more to pay a member than to pay that...here is what I need. so it would be like $60 bucks for 12 studs, 12 nuts, and 2 feet of drain line...does that seem like rapage...or is it just me?
http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...egory_Code=FST
http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...egory_Code=FST
Stuff I need:
Oil:
3/8th NPT to 5/8" slip-on fitting for oil drain
2 ft high temp line...I actually haven't looked for this locally, I'm assuming lowes would have a high temp rubber?
Turbo: I need studs and nuts for a greddy manifold and turbo, figure a few extra if I toast the studs/nuts
12 - 8mm x 1.25 studs
12 - locking nuts
(and where can I find nordlocks? for less than $2 a piece from FM)
Fuel:
1/8 NPT to 5/16th barb
5/16 Barb Tee
21/64 bit
1/8 NPT tap
How much should that cost? I've had like 3 threads on this making sure it is what I need, but I honestly can't find anything locally and I just want to put the car under the knife and get it done already.

Advance should have all the barb fittings with the nuts and bolts on the little rotating stands (should be near their "help" section) they should also have the tap and some cheap locking nuts. As far as the studs go you'er probably just going to have to suck it up and order them.

I could not find the fittings I needed at Advance. They just said if they aren't on the stand they don't carry it. Yay customer service. lol.
I'll have to go back to make sure I have everything written down so wherever I go I can just show them instead of getting confused looks.. I'll check out McMaster. thanks.

If you go back to advance and they tell you they don't have it tell them to go **** themselves and tell you what the local warehouse store is (they always have the most stock in the area) they get two trucks in a week and whatever is sold early in the week has a replacement arrive later the same week so they will almost always have it in stock. (former AAP employee here...unfortunately, but it does have it's perks now that I'm not there anymore including a still valid employee discount code!)

try any car dealership parts dept. audi will have the nuts you want and may likely have studs too. just make sure the guy behind the counter is smart enough to find a stud and nut.
edit: updated with part numbers you may find useful at an audi dealer:
8mm studs: N 044 411 5
8mm copper magic nuts: N 900 850 01
no promises that those are right but might help the dude find what you want.

Stuff I need:
12 - 8mm x 1.25 studs
12 - locking nuts
(and where can I find nordlocks? for less than $2 a piece from FM)
I bought all this with the exception of the nordlocks from advance auto. What you do not see is that all advance autos have a "nuts and bolts" section in the back. I usually just ask and they let me walk back there. Source the grade 10 nuts/washers there. The studs can be sourced from the "Help" section also, labeled as a "water pump kit" or something similar.
Fuel:
1/8 NPT to 5/16th barb
5/16 Barb Tee
21/64 bit
1/8 NPT tap
All the barbs for the DIY are available in the help section of advanced auto as mentioned above.

If you want 20% off at advance then look up the store number and street address of the store on the "other end of town" from the store you frequent. Then go in and when they are ringing you up tell them you're an employee and your number is 304534, if they ask you what store you work at tell them the street name of the one on the "other end of town" have all this memorized just in case they ask when you go in. Also look for someone in a red/black shirt to ring you up they are the pawn's, guys in white/black are the managers.

Try making friends with a shop that does a lot of business with the advance. Shops get varying discounts depending on the part and how many parts they typically buy from the store. Big shops that give the store a lot of business can get better discounts than the 20% that employees get.
