Default Tach and stand alone help

I have a techIIIr

I have no tach hooked up. I wanted to know if anyone has hooked up their stock tach to a tech before.

I want to retain the stocker if i can so its simple and looks clean.

I just ask because I know that an aftermarket tach is adjustable for different signals from a computer.

I didnt know if the stock tach would read from my tech correctly..

I know this may be a bit off topic but I figured there is alot of traffic here for help..

I've driven the stock tach via both the TEC3r and the TECgt. The default settings work fine.

Awesome, thank you.

So you simply hooked up the tach signal to the stock tach.

Do you happen to have a pic or link to the tach wire you hooked it up too?

i have been looking for the wire on diagrams, but I obviously suck at it. i cant see,m to find the wire i need to splice into with the tech signal wire..

I'll look it out tomorrow. It'll be in my wiring notes somewhere - although this'll be for a Mk1 dash. I also have the Mk2 wiring diagrams stashed away (as my head etc is a Mk2) so can cross check if needed.

OK on my 1992/3 Mk1 dash the tach signal wire is yellow with blue stripe. It is pin 1H on the connector at the back of the instrument panel. There are two connectors BTW, the one you want is the one with a yellow wire at one end and a light blue at the other. Pin 1H is the 5th pin in starting at the light blue wire end.

BTW on the Mk1 1.8L the same wire is coloured B/W. Some pin 1H.

Mk2 looks more difficult but others must have done it and if not I'm sure it'll just be a case of working through the wiring - even if the OEM ECU drives the tach there must be a wiring connection to make that happen and at worst taking the back off the tacho o solder the TEC wire in is all is should need.

I thought you might

I like the 20psi - I've not had the bottle to take mine past 15psi to date, a waste of my turbo.
