Default Pre turbo oil cooler?

So in the past few months I have been cleaning up my "learn by making mistakes on your miata" setup. Today I installed my new radiator and I had a small oil cooler mounted to it. So I was like, "****. If I cut those mounts, I have to go buy more...but do I really need this thing?" So I took the oil cooler off. How I originally set it up was, I T'd into my oil pressure sending unit port on the passengers side of the block, then ran a line to a small cooler, then ran it from the cooler to the turbo. Today I eliminated it. Does anybody else run a pre turbo oil cooler? Or was I that much of a Newb back in the day, that I did that kind of unnecessary bullshit?
