Comparing genuine vs chinacharger 2871?

I don't know anyone personally, nor does the shop I work for have any customers, who have had one last more than a few thousand miles. I stand by my previous statements that they are, on average, crap. And not just the 16g's, but that seems to be the most popular model purchased by cheap-*** DSMers, and therefore the most common one to break.
But of course, the OP can do as he pleases.

I mean it's shaft spinning in some journal bearings. not much is changing between 15psi and 25psi but speed/pressures.
Hell, I'd challenge you to tell me what CHRA was china and what was Garrett, if I had two brand new.
casting and casting marks are identical.
what sorta failures have been happening?
the success rate with chinachargers on this site is probably 95% if we did that same poll results would be much different, however, must of us probably have no more than 1-2 years on them.

Most of the failures we've seen/read about have been thrust bearing, followed by journal bearing, and typically they end up with both radial and thrust play and completely fail regardless of whichever bearing is initially at fault. But improper assembly of the comp wheel + shaft has sent a comp wheel literally spinning off as well...that's a real winner there. They also tend to come from the factory without any adjustment to the wg assembly, so people either get no boost, or too much boost.
I'm genuinely surprised by the success rate of members here regarding Chinese turbos. I never thought I'd see a group of people turboing their cars with these and having so much luck after all the bullshit that DSM owners go through. IDK...maybe the Mitsu center section is a bitch to replicate, and the Garrett ones are easier. Whatever the case may be, the Garrett knockoffs obviously work on cars here.
Look, the bottom line is that I'm not calling you all out for using these turbos, as many of you are running them successfully, I'm just tossing out observations/opinions based on my experience in the DSM world.

Are you serious? That turbo looks like something I'd be interested in. The point I was trying to make by establishing this thread is: it doesn't matter to me where the turbo is from as long as it works like it's supposed to and if it's advertised as "comparable to a gt2871" then the specs should be the same or at least pretty close to a gt2871. I have no problem buying a journal bearing chinacharger as long as it specs to what it's advertised as. I.E. If I'm buying a "compared to a GT2871" I don't wanna end up with a GT2859.

Chinachargers must have really upped their quality control standards or you guys are getting much better batches then the guys I went to UNOH with back in 05-08. I know one of the built honda guys had 2-3 fail before getting a decent one and a few 240 owners had issues also. Again, this was back 4-5 years ago, so a lot might have changed
