I'm running stock everything in terms of basic engine set up, runs fine for not having changed engine management.

Stock cam settings here*. Every gain you can get from dicking around with camshafts and headwork you can gain easier from turning up the boost. I only went to a 99 head because crankwalk ate the intake cam journal on my original head.

The big risks of making more power are the same whether you get it from playing with camshafts or from turning up the boost.
1) will I run out of fuel
2) will I bend rods
3) will I spin bearings
4) will I grenade transmission?

Turning up boost is easiest, take this approach at first. When your car is stable at 400hp and 25+ psi, get back to us about playing with the cams and porting. Until then, you are taking the long way around the mountain. I could make my current level of power with a very good head porting and camshaft job at maybe 12 psi? Instead I just run 18 psi for free and save money.

*stock for 99, not for my original year.

point of playing with cam timing isn't necessarily to make more power, but to shift the power band around. Some people prefer more mid range, some want to string it out to 7k every shift and want power up there. Others want to be able to adjust their powerband for the track they're running on.
