Default Downpipe question

Hey all,

First post here on this forum. I just picked up a turbo kit for my 1997 NA Miata and it has pretty much all I need to get it going (Turbo, Manifold, Injectors, AFR Guage, Intercooler, Rad, XEDE ECU) Although it does not have a downpipe and it is stressing me out on what will fit.

From the turbo it has a 2.5inch (ID) VBand. I still have my stock cats. Is there a common downpipe people run with the same setup I have?

Thank you!

We don't have any idea what setup you have. Every different manifold and turbo needs its own down pipe. I am willing to bet the guy or gal was selling it all because they could not find a down pipe for their hobbled together mix match of parts.

^ what he said

Manifold/downpipe is usually sold together because brand A might put the turbos outlet flange in a place that puts brand B or brand C's downpipe in the wrong place to connect to the rest of the exhaust or interferes with the body
If youre bound to that manifold, a fab shop and custom downpipe is likely your best bet if its a no name brand

Ok...so I will probably have to get a new manifold/downpipe combo.

No big deal. The manifold looks like the ebay special. Luckly it came with a brand new Garrett spooly boy

If the turbo is a vband, odds are its an ebay turbo, not a garett

Ebay manifold, Garrett turbo with a vband elbow bolted on.

You will have to custom fab a downpipe.

Or scrap the china manifold and get a real manifold/dp combo. Fm, begi, kraken etc...

If you go the downpipe fab route, ditch the vband adapter and get a flange that mates directly to the turbo. The rear shelf doesn't provide a lot of room to work with back there.

I will probably end up buying the kraken downpipe.

you cant just buy a downpipe, you need a matching manifold as well.
