i just installed my greddy kit today. When i start up the car, i noticed smoke coming out of the turbo. Is this a oil burning problem caused by imiproper oil drain? I tap my hole under the front part of the ac compressor bracket. It's a lil bit lower, probably 1 cm lower than the one on the diy project instructions.
Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

I'm having a hard time orienting my view with your pics. Can you point out what that pulley is in the second pic? Also, in the first pic the bracket is your AC bracket that holds the compressor, right?

I had a dip in my return line similar to yours, however not nearly as drastic. Are you using -4AN lines or -3AN lines? I have a t25 off an sr20 and had the same problem which led me to put a pop rivet into my feed line. Cured that problem.

To be honest i can't even tell where your return line is going to from that picture, but assuming the camera is behing held horizontal with the ground, your return line needs to be at one big downward slope..

The oil drain uses gravity to let the oil drain out, so any uphill in the line can cause it to not drain properly.

I agree, but logic tells me that after so much backup it would begin to drain because of the buildup in the return line, causing the oil to drain back into the pan. Now how much backup is the question, if its backing up enough then i can see it causing problems draining. But i would think draining problems would also cause over pressurization in the turbo and possibly blow a seal, causing smoking out of the tailpipe, maybe even oil in charge pipes or exhaust pipes.

To the OP, do you have oil in your charge pipes or exhaust?

Edit: If this was the first start of the car i would expect quite a bit of smoking from oils on your hands from install. How long did you let it run for?

Smoke coming from the turbo could just be residues from the install burning off but if there is smoke from the tailpipe then I would blame the dip in the drain pipe. That line wants to drain perfectly into the sump or problems will occur. +1 for checking the charge pipes for oil, if it still smokes after sorting out the drain line then go for a restrictor 0.35" for ball bearing and 0.60" for journel bearings I think.

my drain was a 3/8 to 10an, after i ran it for a lil bit today, it seems the smoke have stopped. my drain was near the front part of the pan, you can see the steering rack in my picture. The black tube in the second picture is my radiator hose. I think the smoke was coming from the install. Sorry from being a newb.

ever since i installed my turbo, my car have a burning smell...... did i did something wrong or that's how it is?

A burning smell and some smoke coming off the outside of the turbo is fairly normal just after installation. The turbo itself comes covered with oil which is going to burn off, the paint is going to burn off the manifold, etc. If it lasts more than a week, then I'd worry. If you wanna be safe, pop the hose off the compressor outlet and check for oil inside. If it's dry, you're good.

Apart from the fact that it is going to eat a hole in your upper lower radiator hose, the drain line doesn't look bad to me. You kinda suck at taking clear pictures, but it appears that the hose has a relatively straight path.
