Seeking datalog comments
Any tuning gurus want to take a look at my datalog and offer up some comments? Link 1.6 FM software, map built with DLL and Plink. thanks, rob

Think so? Here's my AF targets-
140kpa - 12.5 - 6psi
180kpa - 11.5 - 11.5psi
227kpa - 11.0 - 18.5psi
Do those look rich (overly safe) to you?
Wideband (AuxCF) is just about zeroed in on the AF target for a boosted run.

Your AF targets are really rich. Are you running WB? I'd go back and make sure you have the correct numbers in there z26-30. I think defaults are something like 14.8 14.7 12.5 12 11 ... some of your targets look to go down as low are high 9's.
Tons of headroom on your injectors, around 70% at full boost. RX7 550's?

That looks right, but that doesn't appear to be what the link is doing. Unless I'm misreading it. Are you sure you are using the correct numbers in those zones? These are my targets using the LC-1
Z26 = 65 (14.8:1)
Z27 = 66 (14.7:1)
Z28 = 72 (14.0:1)
Z29 = 84 (12.5:1)
Z30 = 93 (11.5:1)
Z31 = 97 (11:1)
Z26 = 65 (14.8:1)
Z27 = 66 (14.7:1)

morning (screen) dump
Hmmm... The car doesn't feel that "fat". It was at 10:1 around 9psi and it was a dog! I did a screen dump of what I'm seeing. The dark orange line is my WBO2 data that follows the green AF target line. Light orange is boost psi, flat light green = coolant temp, darker green incline = rpm and blue = IAT. I've been tuning based on the Aux CF line's realtionship to the Target line. - rob
Think I figured it out. The AF data line is unconverted wideband output represented as narrowband. AuxCF is the line to be viewed in relationship to the AF Target. See if that helps- makes more sense - looks like the car would actually run.

I like the Link setup. I got it for $650 used five years ago. With full ecu control, real-time data display and datalogging for ~$750 it's pretty slick.
Turn on the Z IGN, click draw for the data line. Divide the data point by 4 to get ign advance. The entire map is available for viewing from tools:zone data. Total advance at 16psi shows 12*. Oh wait- you're looking at the screen dump? Here's a new dump with IGN curve.

Ok. Thanks Jay. That explains it. DLL has to be set up in the options to read the LC1 data. So what the AF tgt is showing is my LC1 targets as whatever the default device is. I forgot about that. I'll look and see (again) what the process is for changing that.
Under customize: options: fm link ecu: aux input conversion file
the LC1 text file needs to be selected for the datalog to make sense. Sorry about that guys.

Log looks a lot better once the conversion file is properly setup!

Raising this figure makes more power, improves idle and adds some map logic- making each fuel zone greater than the previous)

So that means I've made lots of progress, but have lots of refinement left. I suppose I've learned the easiest part of tuning - adjusting fuel to match the AF target and understanding how to use the ecu/software.

He says your injector offset is too low? Default is something like 30. My RX7 460's I have the offset set at 84 and my master fuel at 95. How high should one go with offset? Is this a 0-255 or 0-100 type deal?
Funny thing is a friend of mine had to set his offset to about 80 to get his master fuel at 100 using brand new RC injectors. So which injectors is the default actually for? Low Impedance 440's?

Pat- timing advance is lowest at peak torque, but then rises. I know that most maps floating around show a slight rise in timing after peak torque, but then plateau. But every map I've seen from a Miata Link shows rise on IGN advance after peak torque. Basically like the default maps that FM has on their site.
Right now my offset is 88. I know he breezed thru the log, but an easy identifier is if your row 100 fuel numbers are higher than the row 200. Mine are. I just used that offset based on others. I believe the 90-95 default is for the 550cc high impedance RC. I think I read somewhere they were about twice as quick to open over the rx7.

That's not saying that some advance wouldn't bring temps down - but I think those temps are probably indicative of a very safe tune.
