Default put the 550's in!!!

sup yall ... i guess its time to share my kit.. ok.... 03 with 6spd..obx manifold ,TB0368 with the flange milled (it has a t3 flage bolt pattern but there was a stupid reaces that had to go) , diy down pipe and IC piping ,ohhh and almost forgot im using a FIC for fuel control....

i have been running 7psi for about 7-8 weeks on the stock 265's i decided that i wanted to up the boost (around 15psi).. so i picked up a set of turbo II (550cc)injectors for $20..(same guy sold me a pair of 4POT calipers for $40)

....tonight i decided to put in the 550's and load the map i have been working on and and it seem like a near perfect match now its time for some fine tweaking..

ill load some picks in the next couple days so you can Gawk..

isnt 15psi a little bit on a high side for stock 03 motor? or do you have some work done to it?

sweetmeatz - Are there any general rule of thumbs that can be used to get the fuel maps close? How much additional fuel is needed per pound of boost and is it a more or less a linear relationship, independent of rpm, etc. I ordered Begi's S1 kit and am planning on going with the FIC with stock injectors. Thanks, Carl

well AEM says run 125%more fuel for 15psi with works out to 8.3% a pound of boost that will get u "close" but there calculations arnt a 100% since my car didnt like to idle on the 550s it was running to lean at idle the formula for puting in bigger injecters in is ... stock injectors\new injectors - 1 ( 265cc\550cc-1= -52% ) but since there is such little power going to the injectors at idle cuting the hold time by 52% wasnt leting them fire right so i adjusted to around to -42% and it seem to work better...

I thought the rods on an NB engine would bend after 12 or so psi?

This is so wrong it makes my head hurt. There is absolutely no linear relationship between boost and fuel. None. There might be a non-linear relationship between flow and fuel on the same turbo, but that's it. You need to SLOWLY increase the boost and tune each pound you add using a wideband, like the Innovate LC-1 or the AEM UEGO.

If you're running 15psi on an '03 motor with no wideband, at least take pictures when you blow your **** up.

How does RPM affect fueling. Will the additional fueling required be the same for all RPM's at a given boost pressure?

Yeah that's weird huh. I did the math and mine came out to -42 for my 460's but in actuality I needed between -30 and -25...odd.

Let's compare maps!

460cc injectors
14b @ 6psi
Right now, I havent tuned the o2 map. Been running without the narrowband. 14.5-14.8 cruising. Rich up top.
WOT is probably good but my ignition is breaking up with 0.035 gap so I cant say for sure

On my rx7 afm and safc i ran -45 or so at idle progressing to 0 by 3K rpm and 4+psi of boost. But i dunno midrange etc never realy worked for me. I am hoping for some nice results from you sweetmeatz your setup is interesting to say the least.

Do you still have your stock 7psi maps i could take a look at? Seems pretty straight forward but not which option to pick for the O2 map or what values. Are you tied into O2 sensor closest to the manifold. Thanks - carl.t.krampert@lmco.com

yeah the o2 **** is uber un-untuitive.

It'd be nice to say - send the regular signal out of boost but send it 0.35v in boost or whatever. The newest version of software has an "offset" functionality . I was thinking of using that. i.e. 0 out of boost and -0.12 in boost? I dunno.

Im trying to get my fuel map perfect, then worry about the o2 stuff.

nice banana rod and gunness catch can ... whats up with your throttle body pipe? oh and why the hell do you have zipties holding the AFM on??

Otherwise looks pretty cool. Green valve cover is definitely unique.

sweetmeats - have you had any luck with the O2 signal modifier in the FIC software. I swear I tried everythign yesterday but it kept wanting to go to the high 14's in boost. The FIC manual SUCKS. I tried offset with -0.3 in all the boost cells as well as....i forget, but I think I tried about everything.

I'll just keep running without my o2 plugged in until I can get this thing figured out.
