td05 16g advice
Hi guys, I need help from the dsm guys on here. I have purchased a 99 nb with a chinabay td05 small 16g I believe and I jumped the gun and purchased a used big 16g on ebay. Only problem is the big 16g is setup for a bottom mount I think. The oil drain is in the top if I was to mount the turbo. So I have seen where people take them apart and drill out the dowels and pin to clock it in whatever position they need. Could I do this safely? I am not changing the orientation of the compressor or exhaust housings so the external waste gate should be fine(staying in the same location). I just need to oil drain and oil feed to be in the correct position.
Thanks in advance

I agree with what was said by the others.
You can clock everything to your hearts desire, might just have to make actuator bracket.
Stick with the small 16G if it's working good. I don't think Big16Gs start working more efficiently till after 20psi.
I didn't notice much difference(if anything at all) going from a small to Evo3 except a little lag. Pump gas just doesn't allow you to do that much more with the boost/timing.
I hit 22psi @ 4500 mated to a MSM exhaust manifold/turbine housing but w/ a full 3" ARTech turbo back exhaust.
