Do it... The Pulsar GTIr kind of has them stock... Long as they are synced they are badass. In before you choose to go with a better turbo.

I don't see any throttle plates on those velocity stacks though... Where's the cable system?

Ditch the Pipercross box if you are trying to pressurize it at all. I have separated the glue on one by simple vibration/heat.

Look just to the right and lower from the fuel rail, you can see the throttle shaft.

Indeed, this one appears to have been glued back together at some time. I'll make a proper airbox out of aluminum or something.

Ya the pipercorss box is not pressurizeable. is that a word? I did remove the factory glue that held it together and put it back together with automotive windshield glue.

BTW: Pinky is a pretty bad *** dude with really cool work projects. and he doesnt look his age. haha

Thats how F1 did it.
They also had a throttle pre-turbo. If I could build an ultimate turbo setup, that is how I would do it.

Yes.

Please properly sync them with a manometer/carb tubes, no one ever does this and it should allow you to idle smoother and at lower rpm than stock.

It also remake that plate that clamps between the trumpets and the throttle bodies to be wider so you can put a flange on the other half of the plenum with many bolts.

Negative, thats a vacuum nipple. The butterflies pivot at 12 and 6, not 3 and 9 like you'd think, and the linkage is below the ITB manifold.

I wonder why it's beneficial to throttle air into the turbo?

<Post Thinking Moment Edit> ...maybe it's so that the turbo can wind up fast (with no "load") and then be at optimal RPMS when the pre-turbo floodgate is opened? Spin that sucker up, let the air in and wham, Ridiculous Boost... ?

Yeah, I suspect that I'll be falling into line with a ball bearing turbo on a real manifold not too far off in the future. But in this case my motor and trans were both fairly hosed, and I got that complete MSM drivetrain for the about cost of just a "real" turbo.

On the plus side, this IHI will make a really cute keychain after I upgrade...

Interesting, in the pic it looks like the end of a throttle shaft. That's kind of an unconventional way of doing the throttle plates, who made them?

Exactly. Its like clogging a vacuum cleaner and hearing it rev up.

You can modulate the throttle however you want and the turbo keeps free spinning, so you have instant boost. Perfect for a road race car.
