i had an ebay kit... the turbo wasnt too bad, but the manifold/downpipe was garbage. the intercooler is basically the only thing left of the original kit on my miata. its pretty much a diy setup now. if your manifold doesnt crack, then you'll like it probably. oh yeah, i had to modify my downpipe to make it work on my car. and i also had to install an o2 sensor bung. good luck with it.

I once bought a "billet aluminum" BOV on eBay that turned out to be cast zinc. My suggestion is you send them a bunch of "helpful" pictures about the correct use of the parts in their kit:

"Clock the turbo to the correct location with a crowbar and a sledgehammer as shown."

"Carefully take this fitting from the package and install it in the garbage can."

Etc...

I'm glad you started this thread! Lots of good information on ebay stuff.

I read that some ebay kits do ok. Seems that supporting the turbo helps dp reliability.

My friend just picked up a '90 Miata with one of those eBay kits on it. I am the shop working on it. So far we have evaluated it and started the re-set up. This one was set up by a hack. He did manage to get it to work......I think. So far we have found that the manifold has cracked and the engine is smoked. A long time ago I made the realization that everything you read about turbo set ups always leads to a few basics. The #1 is the manifold needs to be really tough. Every good turbo kit company ends up with a high flow cast iron manifold. Anything else WILL crack. Building in over-kill is good. With Turbos you gotta go to way-over-kill if you want it to last.

We are however repairing the stainless manifold. We added a brace just like what the intake manifold has. Now it is supported. I'll let you know if it works. In its original form though expect yours to crack too.
