Default MSM swap onto 1.8

Found a guy locally selling a MSM turbo and manifold, AEM ecu, EMUSA intercooler, turbosmart BOV, and 550cc injectors. Said he had everything on his 1.8 NA, curious if it all should bolt up with no issues?...

Depending how he ran the oil/coolant lines and if your engine has the oil/coolant ports on the exhaust side of the block. Also the MSM had a different mixing manifold/pipe to work with the MSM compressor housing so you would need that/whatever he had to work. Other than that everything should be bolt on if he was also running it on an NA

What AEM was he running?

You just need to figure out lines for the turbo. Everything else fits. there are much better options for the money though!

So, as a newbie, you say a full msm manifold , dump pipe, and compressor will bolt on a 94 1.8? Then I need to plumb the oil and coolant... Voila!? Add charge pipe, ic, bov, injectors, and prepare for engne management?
I had a local buddy explain it that way.
Thanks in advance.

Basically. You need a different water pump outlet also, but you listed the big major things.

The big sticking point to swapping the MSM bits onto the NA is the water pump outlet, and the parts around it.
You cannot(if you have AC/PS) simply swap for the MSM outlet. The NA compressor is bigger then the NB's, and interferes. Swapping to an NB compressor would also require you to redo the lines and fittings for the AC, which is a PITA.
If you do whats needed to fit an MSM outlet, you then have to modify the heatercore return hardline to fit, or find an MSM hardline, and modify it to fit.
You can also modify the stock outlet to fit if you have a welder handy.
I'd be unsure about the MSM downpipe bolting right into the NA exhaust. The NA and NB's path are slightly different.
These two threads should show you exactly what I'm talking about and give you some pointers as well.

Thank you so much for the true to life explanation. So with the use of a msm water inlet, it is possible. As for the intake piping,i expected to use a custom set up.

Is a $600 msm setup and a $50-110 rebuild kit for the IHI VHF5 turbo, worth the struggle? (vs a diy Garrett setup) Megasquirt to control either set up.

Is this seemingly affordable jumpstart possibly a headache waiting for me?

Depends on your goals. The HIH is said to be good up to about 220WHP, and the MSM manifold/downpipes are excellent quality for the price(vs tacos or ebay), and very reliable.
If you want more power then that, then go T25. If 220 keeps you happy on the street, then you will have a(mostly) drop in setup ready.

220 sounds like a great street goal. I did pick up the msm swap. I can get it going and then upgrade later. I did pick up the msm water pump inlet thanks to you.thank you all for your info
