Default Budget is blown - t3 or gt28r? opinion on this change?

My budget is blown to smithereens. I'm just about set for a Saab T3 50 trim build. For a little more I can put on a conversion plate and go gt28r. I have a gt downpipe I was going to fab to fit my t3 but just as easily I could change direction on the turbo I'm using. Opinions? Looking to do a quality build the 1st time. Have know idea what I'm looking at when I look at compressor maps. Difference in spool? Difference in efficiency? Difference in power potential? Help me spend my hard earned money! Stick with what I've got or change direction mid stream?:gay:

Stick with what you have for now unless you're having problems with it.
Then do what the better options you can afford.

Car's a 94! Great year to build.

None of this is installed yet. I've got all the parts, begi mani, fm dp, 2.5" enthuza w/ high flow cat, fmic, piping, recirculated bov, full link replacement ecu, misc. fittings, pipe, hose, etc. The mani is for the t3 I have. The DP is for a t25. I was going to adapt the dp to the t3. I could just as easily use a $40 adapter plate and go with a gt series turbo and not have to work on the DP. (the outlet on the gt28r is the same as a gt25 right?)

I have access to a low mile GT28r I could use instead of the Saab t3 50 trim. For the extra couple hundred it would cost me it's a tempting upgrade. I'd rather build this car once. I just don't know what performance differences there might be between these. Spool up, ultimate power, efficiency for a given psi, etc. Like I mentioned the budget is already out the window. Is it worth popping for the extra $200 to go with the bigger turbo?

that 50 trim will run out of steam on the 1.8 before that gt28 will.
