Default s14 240sx turbo KA24DET? (not for the miata!)

So my good friend and autox/track buddy who owns a 95 s14 240sx, got to drive my miata at the track after he corded his tires on the 3rd session, and now cant stop obsessing how good it feels to have power and torque on the track, compared to his relatively stock 240sx.

I told him to get a turbo miata, but he likes the 240sx better as he can haul 4 tires to the track without a trailer and he likes the car in general.

so he asked me to help him turbo the stock motor, maybe do 6-8psi for about 250hp.

I tried doing some forum searching, but the 240sx forums are no where near as organized as MT and all the info i find is from a decade ago.

any of you have any experience with a 240sx KA24DE turbo addition?

trying to do this on a low budget, maybe $2k ?

manifold and turbo is no problem. probably SR20 turbo and any of the many available manifolds.

my main questions:

FUEL?:
What can stock injectors handle?
What engine management for a basic setup? bandaids? stand alone? MS3 ??
How and what to tune with?

anything different to turbo a 240sx than a Miata?

i have plenty of experience with my miata, but dont know the nissan worlds...

Pressure means nothing.

By association. Better motor than BP.

Not going to happen with quality parts.

SR20 turbo on a KA24DE sounds awful.

my main questions:

FUEL?:
What can stock injectors handle? Not enough
What engine management for a basic setup? bandaids? stand alone? MS3 ?? Standalone, or for mild setups, i've seen some happy people with tuned oem ecus.
How and what to tune with? Standalone and a laptop.

anything different to turbo a 240sx than a Miata? No, both are outdated old truck motors.

i have plenty of experience with my miata, but dont know the nissan worlds...
Answers in bold.

ka-t.org <-- what you're looking for.

t25/t28 setup with 370s or 550s is pretty common. Stock injectors are 270cc, they're not good for anything. Other than injectors you need an upgraded maf -- Z32 300zx is the common one.

Easiest thing for management is to buy a rom tuned ECU from Enthalpy ($400). There is no tuning the stock ecu -- requires daughterboards and new chips.

Thank you! this is exactly what i was looking for.

I still think $2k is doable:
500 Enthalpy ecu,
$200 injectors,
$200 ISR manifold,
$200 SR20 turbo or ebay 2860, 2871
$150 sr20 downpipe
$250 ebay intercooler/piping.
$200 oil lines and misc fittings
Total: $1700 (im sure will be more, but still around $2k).

it's not like anyone has ever run into unexpected costs when turbocharging a naturally aspirated old car or anything.
