I was going to use RTV to make sure it was all sealed but i ended up using steel epoxy instead, works much better and dries faster. Dont think Im going to seal the cap, use that to pour out whatever it collects but it should seal on its own anyways...

Good temp use catch can. The plastic should hold up to the engine bay temps. Hard to say though. At least you'll be able to see how much oil it's catching easily. Wait for a nice can to come on sale in the meantime, something is bound to come up.

funny ,i just worked the PBS this morning in my lab class. haha. nice mod. I had one made out of PVC pipe for my other car, but i gave it to my friend.

yeah im going to try and find a spot far away from the heat, maybe near the windshield washer tank, to keep it from melting away to nothing.

I've always wanted to use a moisture filter for an air compressor. Some kinds have a drain valve on the bottom and the top unscrews so you can remove the filter. Perfect small catch can. Looks professional too.

The moisture filter won't work very well, been there. It will still allow too much oil to pass through to the intake.

The 1 1/4" PVC pipe method is compact and very effective if you insert some kind of heat resistant media inside to catch the oil mist. I installed a fuel filter between the catch can and intake to see how effective things are, and the water separator didn't work, but the DIY can I made worked very well.
