I don't see a problem with that, and found the report pretty interesting if only to have a look at the internals.

Some of the responses remind me of how people react when they've been snoped; blame the messenger. Sure it's a Garrett report, and sure Garrett has an ax to grind, but if you own a chinacharger you've got your own ax to grind too.

The chinachargers and re-manufactured units might work just fine, but I doubt they'll be as durable and trouble free as a newly manufactured turbo from any quality manufacturer. It's a bit like comparing Racelands with Bilsteins. They both work, you can find advocates for both, but they're probably not built to the same tolerances. Are they worth the difference in cost; that's a judgment call.

I don't know who this "Reman" company is, but I like their style.

See that's what I love most about this forum:
The regulars aren't god damn lemming panzies like OP. They actually do their own research and make their own conclusions/opinions about different parts and technologies instead of just opening up some biased *** bullshit link made by a company that's losing their sales to replicas.
.

I feel so at home

Thumbs up

Good point but the report does not mention sampling techniques etc. I think they are implying that the defects and below par design and components are not found n the Garret unit.
