So I know down the road when I am ready to turbo my miata I am gonna want a nice manifold that won't crack and for a great price. I was searching google and found this guy's website for fabricating custom turbo manifolds and he claims if it ever cracks that he will send you a free replacement due to his claim that his craftsmanship is great. His prices start at around $199.99 for 4 cyl setups. Post opinions and/or experience with his service if anyone has even heard of him.

Here's a copy of what he says on the website:

There's no real reason to get a log manifold from someone other than artech or build it yourself. None of those manifolds look particularly well designed and even the flanges and bends alone to make a schedule 40 stainless manifold are around $150 or more. This is coming from someone who knows about manifold construction, see soviets cars as example.

Well I gave it a try and posted his work on here for you honest opinions. I just got off the phone with him and he said he has been doing it for over 20 years. I think I am gonna go ahead and have him build me one and test it out and post high resolution pics for everyone to check out. If all goes well and it holds up then I'm satisfied for that price, I don't care if it doesn't look pretty I'm going for durability. He said he uses mild steel for the piping and 3/8" thick steel for the manifold flange. He doesn't use t-fitting styles like the ones found in treadstone performance kit, he makes/cuts his own pipe. I don't know though for that price and if it is guaranteed to not crack/warp etc... then I'm happy. Ya he isn't a forum supporter but I posted this topic to see what you guys thought. thanks for your honesty.

I would not send that man any money. Manifolds can crack for many reasons, not just poor construction. If you don't deck the flanges and you cause hot spots that crack the manifold, will he still cover the replacement?

I mean, really, it's a crappy log manifold. You can find cheap cast logs on here for dirt money.

Since you don't want to build your own manifold, who is going to build a downpipe for your "custom" manifold?

Your sig says you have a 1990, so what you should do tomorrow morning is call Flyin' Miata and ask them if they have anymore "deal of the day" manifolds for sale. I bought a brand new FM2 manifold for 100 dollars from them.

I mean, I'm not keen on having to disassemble my car every week to ship their junk back to them to fix so my car can be out of commission for a month so they can ship me back a hunk of crap that only last a few weeks. May not be the case but I wouldn't want to take the chance IMHO.

Holy ugliness. I could care less about manifolds, downpipes are the hard part.

I'd suggest getting 1/2" flanges if you can, less warping and I think TSE insists on 1/2" flanges if you ever get their inconel studs. More thread engagement.
