Default Turbinetech manifolds

Stumbled across these guys on the webz:

Stainless steel manifold MSM

Interesting arrangement.

This is more conventional:

Hi-performance manifold that we designed to be a direct replacement for the stock 323GTX cast manifold. All 4 runners are equal in length.

Welds don't look as nice as Tim's. Don't know if it would work for 1.6 Miatas, but interesting.

I'm not affiliated or recommending anything, but I thought I'd seen it all, then found this. Searched here and the prefab forum and didn't find any references to this company.

Good lord those look nice. They seem pretty legit. The gtx one should fit but, the placement of the turbo might be a little sketchy.

I don't know how much Tim charges for his manifolds but I can't imagine it being any more than that. If I was dumping that much cash on a manifold it would be an absurdflow and not some unknown brand one.

if i were dumping that much cash, id would find the sickest fab shop to build me a crazy one off mani and downpipe!

is it me or is the BOV/reserc mounted on the intake pipe! i thought it was supposed to be mounted post turbo???

HAHA that's right. Well technically it might work that way since its still routed post turbo. Its still on backwards though.

To be honest I really don't care much for "one off" as much as "best flowing". If money is not an issue of course

This one looks like its got more bends and weirdness. The absurdflow is such a simple yet effective design that I doubt many manifolds would outflow it. Or at least significantly outflow it. Sometimes the simplest designs work the best

i wasnt doubting absurd's products! i would proudly run one of there manifolds........im just saying if i had the cash to drop on somthing, i would go to an expert on building custom manifolds, and get a work of art made without compromising function!

i have always had a thing for crazy looking **** like that.

Only way I see that one in the 2nd link working on a miata is if you used a reverse spinning turbo like the evo8+ turbos. Otherwise you run into a "turbo hit block" issue.

True. It really looks more like an evo manifold than a miata one to be honest

I will let Tim know that he needs to weld a piece of stamped sheet metal with his name on it to my manifold before he sends it back.

For people who actually drive a car, like a man, and are trying to go fast we like these ideas. I don't need a roller-coaster pipe manifold. I need a manifold that stays together with a proper flange and a fabricator that stands behind his work unequivocally. I wish I had given him money a few years sooner...I would enjoy my car much more than I do now.

I know people with Full Race manifolds on Honda's who have the same problem I had 3-months ago.

Apparently there's a short list of people who can fatigue-test a manifold...unfortunately I'm on this list.

I had an opportunity to look at an AMS v-band manifold for their robot welds are awesome. The stuff they put on racecars is 2nd to none. When I compare it to my AF manifold its evident that I scored one hell of a deal.

However...AMS apparently has multiple "classes" of fabrication that they don't sell on their website, that the send out for racecars.

So you see awesomeness, then click the "buy" button and get mediocrity?

^ AMS is just saying they have parts that are on another level that you dont see on there site, like there million dollar manifold that puts a 40r behind the front bumper on the passenger side. there standard kits show up looking exactly like they do on the site. For 4k you will be hard pressed to find a higher quality turbo kit.

I know of turbinetech from my days with our turbo Suzuki Swift GT. And that's all I'll say about that.

$699CAD = $663USD. My "standard" low mount/centerd manifold runs from $497 for a mild steel T2 flanged version (paul, artie) to extimated $693 for a sch. 40 stainless v-band manifold (once the ones that are already made for Sav, Hustler, & snowboarder get more track hours on them to see if they will last). I guarantee my stuff from cracking/breaking so if the stainless doesn't work out, they are all getting nice new mild steel manifolds or their money back.

I have 2 other BP manifold styles too (BEGI/FM replacement manifold & A/C P/S friendly low mount), plus the twins and maybe a MSM manifold if I find a buyer for that.

I could do a medusa type "equal length" manifold but #1 I think they are not as good and #2 you can buy them from other fabricators.

AMS' robotic welds are simple amazing, and they are very nice guys over there.

is absurdflow god to you?
I'm sure that " absurdflow" can weld a good manifold but there are alot of other companies that make good, proven manifolds for the miata too p w

I welded my own ****, so I'm in no way trying to advertise for Tim.
I'm very well aware of others. I'm talking about design or the manifold: yes I absolutely love absurdflow. So simple yet effective. There are lots of companies out there. They make this spaghetti clusterfuck stuff that makes absolutely no sense to me. I could care less about that stuff. Give me function over form.

I'm with 18psi on this one. I would rather buy a proven product than a one-off design.

If there was ever a 1.6 AbsurdFlow manifold I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Show me another company making a manifold for a maita that sees real track abuse.

I know one...Boostlogic, and John and I have been working on a car with that manifold all year. There is no one else out there "proving" turbo manifolds other than about 5 people, and they're all on this board.

Even for us non track ***** it wouldn't make sense to buy this turbinetech ****. Look at the path of the runners:

1 and 4 are somewhat decent, though just as slanted right after flange as my homemade mani which is twice smaller and more compact, so flow should be about the same.
Now look at 2 and 3. HORRIBLE. They both take a SHARP 90* awful looking bend. How the **** is this thing supposed to flow good?
Now I'm no expert so If I'm wrong someone correct me. But this makes much more sense to me:

No sharp bends, no weird loops, no bullshit. Just straight smooth runners from head to turbo.

Now if for whatever reason you MUST have the long runners id at least get something like this:

Very large but at least looks like it would flow well.

The MSM manifold looks just as stupid in design:
WHY point the hotside away from the head like that? It just makes for more bends and weirder looking downpipe. Just making it more complicated than it needs to be. Look at runners 2-3. Again they make them take a weird path for no good reason. Makes no sense to me.
