Default Flyin miata Voodoo box not working. Need help

Hi everyone,
I did some research but I didnt find what I need. I also called Flyin miata,s company to have some help but I am still waiting for an answer.

So here,s my issue: I have a Voodoo box from flying miata. The box was connected to a 1999 miata and was working fine. Now I plugged it on my 1990 miata but the "Bad or poor connection" LED light is always blinking in the box. I rechecked my connection several time and verified it with my ECU wiring diagram. Everything is at its place.
With the box came instructions for installation on a 90-93 miata so I dont see how it coulnd fit.

I know there is at least 2 different generation of voodoo boxes, which the first one had 4 potentiometers, and the last one 2 potentiometer (this is the one I have).

My question is: is there any way to make it work? To modify the circuit?
Thanks for your help!

Philippe

I think a voo doo box for a 90-93 is different than 94-05. Maybe?

Either:

A) Sell it and get a Megasquirt, or

B) Ask miata.net

We don't use those over here.

This. early voodoo boxes either work for the injection style of 90-93 (batch) or 94-05 (sequential). not both.

What I dont understand is that I have the original instructions for my box and it clearly explains how to connect the wires for a 90-93. The only difference is that you plug only 2 of the 4 injector wires because 90-93 are running batch injectors and not sequential. Still waiting for a final answer of flyin miata tech support... The guy asked me for more picture of my box, he said that it might be an "in between generation" of voodoo box or something..

And there's no easy way to figure out which gen you have by looking at the box

the instructions for the new style voodoo box that works with both types of injection states that a wire needs to be cut and bent so that it no longer contacts in order to run batch injection.

Did you do this?

Pictures of the board might help.

The answer is that back in the days, there was 2 different models of voodoo box. The one for batch injectors and the other for sequential injectors. But both box came with the same instructions. So whichever box you buy, you would have the instructions for batch or sequential injection but the box would work with only one of the 2 systems.

The new box works with both system. Thats the one who has the wire that you can cut for batch injector use.

Took a while and a few calls to flyinmiata to figure it out! And frustrating realizing the box wont work
