Highest boost on stock timing
Whats the highest boost you guys are running on stock timing. I want to run between 7-9 psi and would like to keep the timing stock. The turbo will obviously be intercooled. Do you think I can achieve my goal?

I and a growing group of tuners believe WI is alot better than an IC etc but people are often scared by failures and refilling a tank etc. This is not true when you can get a FMIC to cool below ambient temprature lemme know until then, WI is it for me. My fuel problems where i was trying to run some 460's on the stock ecu with a safc i could get top end and idle but midrange and driveability was horrible so i went back to my 1.8 injectors and 110psi of fuel pressure. with 12 psi

I was at 12 psi when the motor finally pooped out. Do to a massive knock event caused by a clogged injection nozzle. I stayed in and won but still i had to build a motor. I didnt notice alot until i blew my turbo oil seal and started smoking cause of the excess blowby a few weeks later. Then i ran compression and whoops well #2 should be better than 96 psi. So remove motor insert Wiesco pistons overbore etc reinstall now for the break in.

Well I am also running a 1.6 my injectors are smaller than yours also i dont have a variable tps signal so i could only tune one map and my afm pretension, vs RPM. This + my real big walboro 255 putting my base fuel pressure at 10 psi over stock, And the fact that i dont run a Idle air controller either made it hard to get the fuel cruve right as 460's is more than twice the stock size.

Magna, how much frickin' water were you injecting at 12-13psi? Water injection can definitely, without a doubt, be more effective than just an intercooler alone, but I find it hard to believe you had no pinging at 12-13psi, stock timing, with only water injection!
Did you inspect the other, "good" pistons after your motor blew?

yes and other than a little bit of scoring from know knock events they looked good. I was injecting about 19% by volume wich is more than the standard but when it all worked. IE i had enough fueling, and the WI was spraying i got no knock. Like i had said i have had knock but i went till i got knock and adjusted from there on fuel WI and boost until i was at optimal for my situation. I made alot of changes in my setup as it progressed, but every stage cept for the 460's, and the low impedance 300's was successfull and when tuned out did not knock. And drove just fine for me on my 30 mile one way commute even if i was in boost for 15 or so minutes each way. Heck i held boost for about 5 minutes straight at about 115 or so mph when i wan messin with a LT1 Impalla on a local rural highway. I left him by like 3 miles it was glorius.
