Ok, thanksgiving break has finally arrived. Tis' the season to install my turbo. I will begin my install tomorrow, but first I need to pick up a few last things and I need your help to find them. VA residents would present the best answers because some regional stores might not be west of here.

1) I need a cheap good intake filter and I need to buy it locally. What are some stores in VA where I could pick this up. Even if its not that good I just need something that I can use until a replacement came in the mail. Advanced auto had some $50 k&n filters but im not sure if they are really worth $50. Any advice on that?

2) I look literally in EVERY store hardware/automotive/plumbing and no one has a 1/2" NPT tap. I know the pan is aluminum and my fitting is brass, brass im pretty sure is harder than aluminum. So......should anything be stopping my from just using the fitting to just tap into the pan? Its not that thick so I don't personally see it being a problem. Also, what size drill bit is optimal to use for the fitting?

3) Uh.....I'm not sure right now but I'll think of something in the next hour to put here!!!11

it will work just not as well as a good tap. have you tried fastenal?

I think it would work, but since it's a critical line (oil), I'd want to cut the threads in with a tap.

See if there is a wholesale tool supply nearby, they should have it for sure, and i would very much recommend that you use a tap or you inverably will regret it later. Make sure to goo it up with jb weld once you get it on to triple check that it will not leak any oil.

try autozone or pepboys, should have the APC stuff.

NAPA, should have let me know I could have mailed you the drill bit and tap. Uni-bit will work as well.

there's this redneckery hot rod shop called Speed Unlimited out in Suitland. They probably wont have everything you want but they do have a lot of chrome stuff for camaros and mustangs. And K&N Filters.

ok I've got a huge problem right now. I have a 1.6L engine, but the spot on the block where you are supposed to attach the oil feed line is not pretapped like it the faq says it should be. So right now I basically have to stop because I have no clue what to do about the feed line....

T off the oil pressure sender. It's a good location, under the manifold on the passenger side. (assuming US spec.)

DAMNITTTT, my feed line isnt that long :( I wanna cry right now. I need to find a place locally where I can buy ss line on a sat. What do I need to buy to t it off the send? any extra parts?

I just felt around for the oil pressure sensor, it is really tucked under there. Once I get it off and assuming I have found the extra connector I need how the hell do you tighten it all down? I can barely fit my arm under the intake manifold.

Anyone know where to buy the t fitting to tap into the pressure sender hole??? Also, to any VA residents, do you know any shops around the dc to richmond area that stock stainless steel braided line so I can buy some on monday.

I got the manifold, turbo, and dp installed today. Tomorrow I will fab the crossover pipe, wire up the o2 sensor, and if there is time wire in the new injector clips and install the injectors too.

Anyways.. take off the sensor, attach and tighten the T, carefully thread back into the port and tighten, then the fun starts. I went from underneath with the car up on stands and an "extension cord light bulb" to see what I was doing. Then, struggle for an undetermined amount of time as you try to thread the feed line into the T adapter. One in, tightening with an open ended wrench is not bad.

I say that for whataver it's worth... I bought a feed/drain kit from them too and later on i'm in ACE HARDWARE and I see the same stuff. Live-n-learn

With the size handy, I think you'll be able to find something local.

Size: 1/8 BSP male to fit into the block. 1/8 NPT for your oil feed line.

Check the yellow pages for a Parker fitting company. They do SS hoses and custom fittings and are reasonably priced. I go to one midway between Balt-Wash but that is probably too far for you. There should be one in NOVA somewhere.
