Alright. After my last post, and suggestions that something was amiss, I adjusted the wastegate and it made a huge difference. Retuned as well, added a little timing, and here's what I came up with. Probably the best I'm going to see with this shitty manifold and dp. Also, swapped in a 4.1 Torsen since then, as noted.

Using a Hallman manual boost controller.

Time to break spool records

Engine: '99 1.9L 9.5:1 84mm supertechs
Turbo: GT2871r .64
Manifold: ARTech™ Ramhorn Top Mount manifold
Downpipe Size/Style: 3.5" homemade

Exhaust Components: Magnaflow 5x11x22 muffler
Intercooler Core Size: 550mm x 225mm x 64mm
Intake Manifold: Honda ITR + 70mm TB
Headwork: stock BP4W
Engine Management: Adaptronic E420c
Other Spoolin' Helpers/Hurters: EBC
Trans & Rear End Ratio: 6-speed, 3.6 LSD
Rear tire size: 215/45/16

FIFTH GEAR PULL:

RPM Boost(psi)
2388 2.9
2479 3.9
2575 4.7
2640 5.9
2768 6.9
2868 8.1

3088 10.5
3158 11.6
3253 13.0
3340 13.9
3384 15.0

Not bad for stock 99 head? I begin to open WG at 3K rpm, if I can keep that closed little bit longer I think it will spool quicker.

Not yet, I'm planning to get another shortblock to throw china-rods in. I'll have to cut the boost a bit to keep my engine in one piece.

Engine: 01' 1.8L with functional VVT
Turbo: Precision 4828
Manifold: BEGI cast style with EGR
Downpipe Size/Style: older BEGI non separated gasses
Exhaust Size: Flyin' Miata 2.5" with high flow cat and resonator
Other exhaust: Stock muffler for now.
Intercooler Core Size: 18"x8"x3"? (estimated from memory)
Charge Piping: 2" over the top style hotside, 2.5" behind headlight coldside.
Intake Manifold: Stock
Headwork: none
Engine Management: MS3x running a suboptimal tune
Rear tire size: 205/45R16
Other helpers/hurters: EBC limited to 160kpa

5th gear pull

RPM PSI
2359 0
2392 1.2
2569 2
2895 3
3318 4
3468 5
3599 6
3695 7.1
3767 8.1

I would have kept going but I ran out of clear highway. I would have hit 9.2psi in another hundred or or so RPM.
Log of pull is in my build thread. Also of note - 10psi is pretty much full boost for my build. This turbo should be putting down about 240hp max at that PSI but not at that RPM obviously.

Does anyone have data on pre/post tune? I'm curious what people are seeing as a change from tuning alone.
