Default turbo upgrade opinions - whaddaya think?

hi guys

I'm thinking of upgrading the current system (lil IHI VJ20 turbo from a GTX, Link, small junkyard IC) to ..
- VF38 turbo (twin scroll, titanium turbine etc )
- '99 exh. mani (4-2-1 style), mod'd to feed the twinscroll
- prob a EG-civic skinny radiator and whatever intercooler will fit in the rest of the gap

Anyone care to comment on:
- the exh manifold size transition down to the turbine entry... just eyeballing it the mani looks a bit bigger, guess I should transition it down gently?
- turbo mounting - will have to clock it to get the oil feed on top, and it prob won't be horizontal. Does this affect the lubrication much?

Would like to stick on the 99 head, torsen and '01 COP setup I've got in the garage, but who knows how that'll work out!

So whatcha say?

TIA - jf

Not sure about using the stock header. I'd get a turbo mani. Also, the twin-scroll might need a capatable, twin-scroll designed mani in order to receive the benifits of the twin-scroll turbo. Is it from a Subaru? At any rate, yes, the trans should not be an abrupt one.

Your turbo does not have to be perfectly aligned for the oil feed to work, however, clocking it should not be a problem and you do have to get it close. It affects oil drain, as gravity is what drains the oil. Get it as vertical as possible (not horizontal please )

Not positive, but I recall the civic radiator giving cooling problems.

yeah it's on the latest JDM Legacys, forgot to mention it's dual ballbearing as well ... and is rated for 280ps. Not very popular as it doesn't plug'n'play too well with anything else = cheap deal
