Hello, i'm soon to be upgrading to a Bell Series 1 Turbo kit with Garrett GT2554R, this car will never see more than 220 horsepower (I want reliability and drivability, not open hoods), should I go ahead and sell my Magnaflow 2.25 inch catback exhaust with hi-flow cat, or should I keep it and just delete the catalytic converter. (In Alabama, our cops don't care about that stuff)

I would think that running just resonator and muffler would surely open up the exhaust...

you should be OK with that exhaust, but a 2.25 is pretty restrictive, going with a bigger pipe, like 3" will help your spool a lot and wont restrict as much up top...its your call though, its cheaper to keep what you have

A 2.5" should see a noticeable gains even...but you could try it w/ no cat...then just take the whole exhaust off and see what less would be

Oops, sorry. Didnt see you going for the Begi S1 kit, it has an intercooler.

You could spend the money on a wideband, or a high pressure fuel pump since you will probably be using the AFPR.

you said it yourself, with your turbo you aren't looking to make the most amount of HP available. Upgrading the exhaust while it may net small HP/TQ gains, wouldn't really be the first of your concern. It's certainly better than a stock exhaust and should be sufficient for now. I doubt you'd notice a big difference one over the other with that turbo, it certainly couldn't spool much faster

well i do agree with brainy on the priority list...
maybe you should look into a better clutch, maybe brake upgrade and diff upgrade unless you already have a 7" rear...
what year is your car?
look into watermeth as well, its a very nice insurance policy

for that power level I'd keep the 2.25" exhaust for now. you'll need a clutch, timing control (don't think the S1 includes Bipes), and injectors. Once you up those things you should be able to hit that power level without any problem on the exhaust you have now. Once you reach your power level change the exhaust to help spool and increase sound.

I'd do a 3" exhaust. It's going to improve spool and response and get you power.

Begi S1 + MSPNP + injectors + wideband + clutch/exhaust/etc = a reliable, bulletproof 220whp

what good is a 3" on his 2554R if all he gets is 10hp up north, 100rpm extra spool and major booost creepage. If he had a 2560 or 2860 I'd say hands down do it.

I know I'm all about 3", but I think money could be spent elsewhere.
