Default which manifold would you use?

Okay, so I have 2 manifolds on the shelf, a real early JDM 1.6 HKS manifold and a tacotaco t3 manifold. The HKS unit uses a smaller td04 turbine housing that would be ported to use an already upgraded 15g compressor side. I ran this setup with a smaller compressor on my first Miata for over 4 years and spool was almost instant but top end sucked, but the 15g upgrade would cure that. The t3 manifold would be used with either a .42, .52, or .60 compressor side with a .48 turbine side.

I have all the parts on the shelf, just need to figure out which setup to install.

Id use the shorty. Sets the turbo lower allowing the need for less bends on the downpipe causing less backpressure. Thats just me

That housing was posted to show the smaller turbine. I have 4 or 5 t3's on the shelf to go with the other manifold. But I do agree that the shorty style flows better, it's just that the t3 60 will run cooler than the 15g and provide 20-30 more hp at 12psi. Decisions....

I'm sure I will list many parts for sale once I'm done.

Another option MIGHT be to have an adapter made to mount a t3 on the shorty manifold.

Option C would be to buy a Begi t3 manifold, but would it really be much better?

the first manifold was clearly designed for performance.

the second manifold was designed by a lazy ************.

Use the HKS manifold.

The desing is clearly much, much better.

Besides man, dare to be different. Not many others probably use that manifold. Custom setups are the ****.

I had the Hks on my first Miata and it is a beautiful piece, and rare too, as the early Hks Miata parts were only available in Japan. Only downside is that there are very few upgrades available for it without custom machining of the turbine housing. They used the same Td04 turbo as an early-mid 80's Dodge Colt Turbo, spools fast but top end is weak. I managed to pick up 2 spare turbos on the turbo Colt/Mirage forums and am having one sent out for an upgrade.
