Unhappy help! tell me i 'm ok

i drilled my pan today for my turbo oil drain, and developed a problem. i located the drain hole just in front of the motor mount, just like the link below. as soon as i drilled through the pan, like a 1/8inch past hole i hit somthing(thin flat piece of steel). it is not a tube. i think i hit some sort of windage tray. i can push it with my finger and it does flex easily. did the 97 miata have somthing like this?
