Default Junkyard hunting

Heading to the junkyards pretty soon looking for a turbo to start my build on my 99. Anyone use a turbo from a junkyard on the diy kits? What cars should i be looking for thats easy to mate with HKS or BEGi mani? (besides DSM.. wanting to stick with T25,28, etc...)

Any other parts to watch out for?

Make an adapter for a T3 flange. Score a T3 from a Ford T-Bird turbo supercoupe or a turbo from an SVO mustang... other donors... T Type Regal, Volvo's and Saabs.

Good luck finding turbos.

some years came with 14b, some with t25. I forget which. There's a possibility that the auto's come with a bigger trim with the 5spds but im not sure if thats accurate or not.

Found a website that sells used turbos with a 30 day warranty, most under $300, so i can't pass this up.

I'm gonna go with a T3 but not sure what trim is best. Id like quick spoolup, 200whp with ability to upgrade. Suggestions?

With a T3 yoiu might try either .60/.48 or a .42/.48

I got my Saab T3 junkyard turbo from Zebraracer here in the forum. $110 shipped, spins freely, no free play. Check his thread in the 4sale section he offers to go get them for ya.

First gens came with a 14b (manual ) better one , auto came with 13b(crap) i believe , 2nd gens all have a t25 no matter what trim level. Alot of people up grade so you may find a 16g it should say tdo5h(it will look like a 14b) 5 in the the only difference , on the compressor side in there (which is the best of all of them ) but either way brand new is pretty cheap 16g $675 for a 7cm exhaust housing and internal wastegate @machv.com

Yup, you got the DSM turbo's correct for the models.

I had a friend that had a DSM T25 on his Mirage. Always had problems keeping the boost down. You need to work over the wastegate area pretty good to run lower boost on the DSM T25's.
