Actually driving it more, it sounds like it's coming from the transmission. TOB?

Well sounds like this, just much less noise. Going to re align the PPF, car is sitting till Wednesday. Hopefully nothing major and just a fuckup on my end on alignment. Though it does have a happy meal on it, maybe normal lightweight flywheel noise? Happens -most noticeably- on accel in 2nd through 5th gear under 3k rpm, and also happens on decel around the same rpm and gear.

That squeal is almost certainly a bearing.

Normal light weight flywheel gear chatter.

I sold my 10lb fm flywheel because of this, couldn't stand the noise. And i have full interior with sound deadening and all the rubber boots that go there to help reduce the noise.

EDIT: My response is to second vid. Is that your car?

My flywheel only rings on decel, and never on a 5-4 downshift, just the rest of them.

Never under power, never heard of lightweight flywheel making noise in power...

My stock 1.6 FW rang on decel, the 10.8lbs whatever I use now does the same. I don't care enough to fix it.

My car makes the same noise as the second video. First it was only on decel and it was not too bad, not much of an annoyance. Progressing through the season it got louder and noise happened longer. Then it started happening on acceleration. Nothing ever broke, but the noise is incredibly unbearable. I was on a stock 1.8 flywheel aswell. I bought a different trans, from a 99, to use next year, see how it goes from there. Realigning the PPF did nothing for me.

something is loose and vibrating is my guess. Not gear whine IMO in video on post 8. Heat shield is where I'd start looking.

You still have a cat on the car? Upper shield sounds kinda like that as it rusts free from the lower half.

No cat, this became obvious when we installed a full exhaust. It could have been there before, I was running open downpipe so the noise was loud, may not have heard it. But since we put the exhaust on I have noticed it. Will check heat shields, that was my original thought.

My car also sounds almost as bad as this these days. I've had the motor out before and it does have a light flywheel. I suspect better PPF alignment on re-assembly would help a little bit, and I have another gearbox now to try (because I get other noises from it and the current one is definitely on the way out!) but I don't think I will ever get rid of it entirely.

Having lived with the flywheel noise a long time now, it has become more pronounced and louder over time. just as Adrian has said!
I can believe it is as Pat has said... just part of having a lightwheel flywheel, but would love it to be gone or at least less loud.

Whinin, the noise in your videos does sound a bit like mine did early on before it was loud, have you had the clutch/flywheel/box/motor swapped or out before?
