Default Intermittent severe power loss

Hi all,

I have an occasional problem which happened for the 3rd time today. The car suddenly loses almost all power for about 5 or 10 seconds. It then returns to life and runs perfectly. I can't tell if it's fuel or electrical. I have not changed the fuel filter in a while, but the car runs perfectly rich at full throttle to redline. There seems to be plenty of flow.

I have an AEM computer. It has occasional hiccups, but has otherwise been fine. I have checked all electrical connections and they seem to be OK. If you saw my other post I had mice (yes MICE, can you believe it!) removing my header wrap to use for nesting on my valve cover. They also chewed my spark plug cables a bit. I had a miss fire from that which is now cured with new cables. I have checked the rest of the wiring and I do not see any other damage. Yes, most of the mice have been killed and the stragglers will be gone soon.

This problem occurred once a few months ago, but twice in the last week. It feels like the ignition has been turned off or the gas has been turned off when it happens. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Barry

Check for mice chewing the fuel pump wires from on top of the tank forward. Another member lost his fuel gauge wire and was about to loose his fuel pump wire. For some reason rodents love the covering and keep going through the copper.

Thanks for the help. I had the package tray apart and the wiring to the fuel pump all looks OK, no sign of mice here. The harness looks intact. I unplugged and replugged in the harness just to be sure of a tight fit. It looks like the only sign of rodent activity is in the engine bay.

I will hook up the AEM to a laptop and record some logs to see if anything unusual is going on.

Regards,
Barry
