Default Super Cheap build, need some help and extra eyes

So here is my plan and the associated questions as well...I am planning to go with a dsm 14b like many others, because it's geniune mitsu turbo for not a lot of money. I gave up on the el cheapo ebay t25/16g. Goal of ~200whp

Below are the parts I am looking to get

1. ebay manifold and downpipe combo. It looks like they're setup for DSM style hotside inlet/oulet. Could you please take a look and see if you think it will work for a 14b.

eBay Motors: Turbo Manifold + Downpipe Mazda 90-93 Miata MX5 1.6L (item 350138507981 end time Jan-09-09 17:00:00 PST)

2. Megasquirt - PNP or the build your own(more likely) since I am cheap

3. 14b turbo, since these can be found for under $100, I just need to find one in good condition

4. RX-7 550cc injectors, I figured if I am gonna do this and MS, I might as well go 550cc instead of 460cc, just in case I want more more power in the future I'm prepared.

5. universal intercooler kit on ebay.

What do you guys think? If this works, it would be like 150 + 400 + 100 +160 +150, do just around $1000 for everything.

Sounds just like my set up. I'm running the same manifold and downpipe with my 14b. The quality is poor but they get the job done. On the manifold the nuts might hit the welds but that can be fixed with some grinding. As for the downpipe it hits the transmission but some more grinding will fix that too.

You have most of the major parts listed but don't forget about stuff like oil feed line, drain line, bov, etc. That stuff can add up quick.

thanks for the reply, we've have/had somewhat similar cars too lol...

I've just sold my cherokee with the 4.0 straight 6 not long ago, not as cool as your 4.7 stroker by any means. I have a 05 saab 92x (wrx wagon), was my daily driver, now the miata will be my daily, I'm getting rid of the 92x.

You put some serious work into your car, I was looking through your pictures, it looks awesome!

The 1000 looks good on paper. Your still missing a few things. You missed the intercooler and piping from your total cost. An LC1 will most likely be needed if you plan on tuning. Fittings and lines are gonna cost a little also. Here is my list for my soon to be complete kit.

Megasquirt With miata mods and Harness $300
EBC + AIT Harness + GM Boost sensor + AIT Kit $86
Turbo Ebay, S14 BB Garrett 2560. $201
Turbo Manifold Used Begi with EGR. From Clubroadster.net $230
Injectors 460 PnP Turbo RX7 Injectors, from RX7 Classifieds + Cleaning $105
Downpipe Made for NB. Old style FM. From Ebay $81
Inlet/outlet adapters To attach silicon hoses to turbo. Ebay $50
MS “boomslang” Ordered 3 sets to met min order, sold off 2 sets. $25
Turbo Fittings Includes all fittings/lines minus inlet and outlet $95
Oil Pan fitting 5/8 heater hose fitting from kragen $6
Oil drain Used from MT.net. From a t3, must mill to fit t28. $15
Oil inlet With restrictor for Ball Bearing turbos $24
LC1 with Gauge Used from MT.net $200
Total so far $1418

Sorry for the messy layout, its a copy and paste from a excel file.

thanks for the great tips. I haven't thought about the little items yet, clearly a mistake, and it would have nickeled and dimed me to death lol. Thanks!

I like my 14b very much. I got mine on ebay for $70 and it's in very good condition save for a couple pretty large cracks in the exhaust housing. (I've got another housing I'm going to port out and use when I get around to it)

Last time it was on a dyno it wasn't tuned very well (diy's mspnp spark map) at about 11psi, and it made 183hp. We should have no problems making 200whp with this turbo and some tuning.
