i have a 91 and wanna only run 5-6 psi what all do i need? im gunna try to get this kit from a freind and he said its about 80% complete and that the things i will need to complete it are rising rate fpr, 1.8 injectors, bipes timing control, intercooler pipes, BOV. are those things all necessary? what all do i actually have to have just to get it up and running? i am looking for any and all help but quick before the offer passes by....
it taps into the fuel return line and a vacuum source. Very easy, a vortech FMU 12:1 is recommended. If you want to spend a little extra $$$ you can get the BEGI adjustable model. That would be ideal if upgrading later. Timing should be retarded to 6* using 93 octane gas. If you run a bipes unit, you can run advanced timing and then it wil retard it in boost so you can still have low-end power.
i recommend a good tune up and one range cooler spark plugs. goto your parts store of choice, tell them you need spark plugs, but you want them one range cooler ( or range 7). gap them to .035.
the better state of tune you start with before you add the turbo, the better it will run AFTER you add the turbo.
ok probably a stupid question is the vortech fmu replace a rising rate fpr? or get both??? sorry im new also. maybe you guys can help. were can i find a look at how to run the intercooler pipes to run a fornt mount intercooler. i have the wizdom front bumper so i hav a large mouth and wanna fill it in with a nice fmic
For 5-6 PSI really only need the basic kit. On the need list will require an AFPR. The supplied Vortech works fine but the BEGi is fully adjustable and enable fine tuning the fueling. Adding 1.8 injectors will create the need for additional bandades.
Everything else listed is nice to have. If on a budget, may try to find a used MSD for some ignition enhancement. I sold my used on a while back for $40.
ok so what does the basic kit include? im getting the manifold, turbo, down pipe and oil feed line.also a front mount intercooler.
I plan on buying a BOV and intercooler piping. also a vortech fmu 12:1 and the oil line needed. anything im missing?
nope that is it - you will essentially have the whole kit plus the intercooler and bov (which dont come with a greddy kit). Still, suggest also getting a bipes and a boost gauge...

But if you're going to spend $150 on that, you might as well buy the BEGi for ~$200-225 because then you'll have infinite (well, not infinite, but more than you need) adjustability w/o having to tear it apart and install a purchased recalibration kit any time you want to tune it.
