I answered all of your questions and more 2 days ago. Post #6, last paragraph.
Imagine for just 2 seconds yesterday at 1:12am if instead of being a crybaby, you'd said something like this:
"Hey Sam, thanks for the advice. It looks like a 12b would fit my power needs, but it's probably more trouble than it's worth. I've read the stickies and done some homework, but turbo'ing is just really new to me and I have no idea where to start... it's a little overwhelming and some of the vocabulary is beyond me at this point. I'll take your advice and hold off on the posts for week or so. I'll read everything I can and hopefully by then I can start a fresh post in the NOOB section and tell you all about me, my car, and my goals. Thanks for the help."
I'll tell you what. Print out all the posts from the 2 threads you've started and take them to your Dad. Ask him what he thinks. He just might agree with you that we're all really mean, grumpy Miata owners who aren't interested in helping anybody and enjoy picking on innocent NOOBS. However, unless your Dad hosts a show on HGTV, he'll probably slap you across the face and tell you to grow a pair. I promise you can trust your Dads opinion on this.
Now, are you more interested in defending yourself or turbo'ing your car? If you have any more questions other than the ones I answered before, I'll give it my best shot... but first go talk to your Dad.

First off, "samnavy" which I'm assuming is part of the village people based on your name...?
Your sig alone, spells out what a pretentious **** smoking *** you are with obviously more insecurities than a 400lbs woman wondering if her *** is to huge.
As an elder of this forum, you would think that in some form... you would gain some kind of wisdom.
You my friend need to lighten the **** up, this isn't highschool and you do not have to bully anyone to gain status.
Oh and not sure what Malibu's you guys are thinking of...try 1978-1981...we don't run with neons like you guys...
Oh and I don't like golden showers...you sure are a strange bunch...

lol.....how and the **** is this even still going on? If your friend came in here and spoke as if he had some education, he might have had a better chance. Not to mention that his question about a 12b turbo is such a ******* joke in itself. He could have learned alot and got some answers without even having to post.
I cant speak for others, but I know when I read someones thread/posts, if there's NO punctuation or grammar of any sort...I feel like ripping my ******* eyes out of my head. If its too much to ask to take the time to post, then don't ******* post here. I don't get it, does it really take that much effort to hit the caps, comma, period, etc?
As for Malibu's....whatever. This is a Miata forum, we aren't going to ******* jump for joy or anything. If your friend is serious about modding a Miata and wants some good info, this is certainly the place. But this forum isn't like all the other forums on the internet. So don't expect us to be just like your Malibu club.
Remember...you guys came here, we didn't go ******* find you.

Dude, wtf school did you graduate from at 16 from? I must know so I can call them and ask where the **** they get their teachers from. Our future looks scary if people like you are graduating from high school. Would you and your Malibu boy go back where you fucken came from and leave us grumpy old me alone.

Hey Tyla, you didn't insult me. The purpose of this forum is not to spoon-feed NOOBS. I was trying to give you the tools so that you could learn this stuff for yourself. Just like most automoive forums, there are things called "STICKIES" at the top of every page. You clearly haven't read them. There are also forum "SPONSORS"... you clearly haven't visited them to see their products and learn exactly what parts are out there for turbo'ing a Miata. You probably haven't even Google'd "TURBO MIATA" to see what websites are out there.
Imagine for a second I went to your Malibu forum and said this:
"Hi guys, sorry for the noob post, but I just got this sweet Malibu. Doesn't handle so well, but I think I could use some more power. Can anybody recommend an engine... not too big an engine though cause I my friend already has pistons for me and the pistons are very small and I only want a "little" more power (like only 200whp more). Can anybody recommend an engine without pistons to buy??? How much power can I get on small pistons? I already know everything else I'll need, like gas and oil. Don't worry though, I'm 17 and know everything."
See how it's pretty clear I don't even know enough to ask good questions. If you're really interested in wanting to turbo your Miata, then listen carefully.

And just to show you I'm really interested in helping, I'll actually answer your questions:
Boost on a stock motor depends on the motor and the tune. Assuming a healthy motor, you start seriously lowering engine life in the 280whp range. How much boost you need to get there depends on the turbo. A "small" turbo will never get you to that kind of power. A T4 will get you there no problem, but will never spool in time to make usable power. What is considered "small" to a muscle-car guy would still be huge to an import guy. The 12b Mitsubishi turbo came stock on some Saabs and Volvo's about 20years ago. It would be ideally suited for a low 200whp goal on a small displacement 4-cyl such as a Miata. However, no aftermarket company makes a manifold or downpipe that can utilize it's funky proprietary flanges.
A 30whp goal is not achievable on a 1.6 using standard bolt-ons on any sort of realistic budget. It is generally given that the Miata's stock exhaust and intake are very good pieces and you stand to gain around 10whp or less on a full intake/exhaust setup on a 1.6. Even the most basic bare-bones turbo setup running about 5psi is good for around a 50whp gain. Timing/injectors/intercooler and what not depend on your approach to boost. Knowing what approach to take means you have to be smart how Miata's work stock... and you won't learn that unless you start reading and searching.

Read, search, and read some more. Post again once you have a decent backing on your subject, and only ask questions AFTER you've looked for key words in your question using the search engine on here and a few other miata based forums.

Well,
If your community enjoys reactions in regards to samnavys' then...so be it.
Just don't expect these so called "noobs" to stick around...everyones got to start somewhere...
Just think you guys need to relax, and encourage them instead of dropping attitude because something was asked multiple times.
Don't think it only happens here...
