Default Ebay Intercooler Setup

Hey all,

Just did a search and couldn't really find anything. I know a lot of you guys are using CXRacing intercoolers but i was looking at this "complete" kit and wanted to know what you thought.

If this is a pile, can you please help me out with what combination of intercooler and piping is recommended.

I have a 1.6L and am getting a BEGI manifold and SS BEGI downpipe, the turbo is a small TB2522 as my power goals are minimal for time attack classing reasons but i still want the scalability there for when i go ***** out

Thanks in advance

EDIT: i guess i should also add that this car is a track only car, there is no A/C or PS. Currently have a PWR radiator with both OEM fans running in sequence.

I just installed a 28x7 intercooler with 2.5" in/out and it fit perfectly in my 95 with a/c and ps. I don't feel like there was any additional room either wider or taller without moving stuff though. Hope that helps.

You'll find most so-called kits are not plug-and-play. Short of buying the piping from Begi you might as well stop looking for a PnP solution.

Most piping "kits" can be chopped up and configured to work though.

Well that one definitely "looks" like it will work. Not your typical pile of piping that's marketed as a "kit". Looks like someone actually tried to mock it up to traditional turbo miata routing. If you're not big into fabrication I'd give it a try, though I'll bet there's still a good chance that it might be off in some spots and require some modification much like most ebay items.

It dosnt appear to have a provision for you IAC valve.... which isnt a very big deal but still for $300 you shouldnt have to modify anything.

I do believe it has the pipe for IAC you can see it in the installed pick but even if it's not there it's not that hard to make one yourself or have it welded.

In one pic its not there. The hose is just hanging there

In the other pic it kinda looks like there's a fitting welded on

If you're serious about getting the kit I'd def ask the seller

You can do better for less if you can fab/have somebody else fab. Here is what I used for my over the top of the radiator setup:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-5-I...Q5fAccessories

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/UNIVE...Q5fAccessories

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-5-T...Q5fAccessories

The pic 18psi posted shows where they chose to weld a bung (the first pic has a black sharpie mark on the pipe) and the second one is after the bung was put on. If your not using your iacv you won't need that done but you will need a vac/pressure source attached (unless your going to do it off the compressor housing which sucks).

The only thing I had to do to mine was get a bung welded in for the iat sensor and a nipple for pressure/vac some cutting of the pipes, and make a bracket for the intercooler. Couldn't have been more that $220 all said and done and that's the high end of the estimate.

Also that bov is probably a piece of **** painted purple and wtf is this bracket going to?
