So I've been going over turbos that could possibily net me my goal of 400whp and I found borg warners s256 turbo compressor map to come up to my liking.

now I'm not sure as to the turbine housing I should go for when it comes time to buy the bullet

What would yall recommend from the list of turbine housing options?

id say go for the smaller .55 and see if you can get there with that....hopefully you will and you'll get more area under the curve, especially since you have a 1.6 it looks like

Well I could go with the 5 bolt SVO setup and use my current exhaust downpipe and manifold but I was thinking it would hurt me overall, compressor to big compared to smaller turbine. I have to do more research
the .55 AR would be bigger than my current t3 .48 ar so might push the downpipe further back if its lenght is longer.

That turbo seems way, way too big for 400whp. That's like a 500+whp turbo from where I'm sitting.

It is. My friend with a 1.8t Gti just bought that turbo for his 500~+whp build.

Way overkill for a goal of 400whp.

Nice ideas in general, but in practice all it does is delay spool and response. If you want 400whp, size the turbo for 400whp. Buying a 500+whp turbo for a 400whp goal is a great way to be disappointed with the low-end response.

If you're looking for 400whp turbos in the low $1k range, I would go with a GT3071R and use the .63 A/R T3 housing.

I hope you're building a 1.8/1.9 for this, too - I don't think a 400whp-capable turbo is a lot of fun on a 1.6 motor.

Its a little on the big side, looks like it probably would max out around 550hp.
I dont think its ridiculously big though, you may find yourself wanting to make some more power eventually, and with a small A/R turbine housing I dont think spool would be bad.

I do appericate the help, but going over the GT30 maps I didn't see them lineing up nicely, now my data could be off that I used and its just a turbo calc so whos know what will happen in real world, but from what I've seen with the t3 60 I have now, it aligns up close to what power I made at what boost pressure, only thing I don't know is airflow, if I had a maf hooked up I could tell then.
